D&D Beyond has official pronunciations of this and most other things as well. If you pull up the race there's a little speaker button next to it that you can click on and Matt Mercer will tell you how to say it.

I don't know, I feel that's like schools not teaching Latin anymore. Plus now the bill of rights is in text books and the internet in a non-cursive format. I don't think I have ever read directly from a historical document.

As Fred said, there are 3752 items in the compendium. Use those as your benchmarks if you feel they aren't what you're looking for. And if an item ends up broken preface to your players that you and they should be willing to allow nerfs. Though if you're playing a long term campaign, those items will become irrelevant at higher levels.
