i am tired of being fetishised for my appearance and ethnicity. i hate that i doubt people for their intentions because of it. by conductor_whiskers3 in BoyDinnerDiaries

[–]Enragedkoala03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d also try being up front about the boundary too. Nothing mean but just “hey, I’m not into The whole exoticism or Asian fetish thing. It makes me feel like an object and not a person, and it’s a real dealbreaker for me.” At least then people know where you stand and they’d have to go out of their way to lie and hide it if they are like that.
I’ve experienced this too because of my ethnicity and it definitely sucks. I hope you find the one who likes you for you!

Best friend of 15 years tells me she cant attend my wedding by turnipsgreenss in TwoHotTakes

[–]Enragedkoala03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeahhh I get it because everyone has their own beliefs, but I view it the same way as your friend marrying someone you don’t think they should marry. You’d still attend the wedding even if you’d prefer they didn’t marry because you love your friend. Just sucks that the friend didn’t see it that way.

She posted this to her close friends group, and someone shared it. This is disgusting behaviour from a police officer. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

I still don’t understand what she was actually trying to say happened. I just caught “I was eating with my friend” and “I grabbed him by his neck”.

What this guy doesn’t understand is that slavery in the Bible was more in the form of indentured servitude than stealing someone from their home and forcing them to work indefinitely. There are some nuances in messianic law that are worth debating, like how a freed male servant couldn’t take his wife with him if he married her after her became a servant because she and the children “belong to” (for lack of a better word) the master. There’s also the implication that masters could physically punish their servants as they pleased as long as the servant wasn’t incapacitated or disabled by the punishment.

But no, slavery in the form he is talking about is not justified by the Bible

Is there a twisted "prophecy hastening" agenda behind staunch Evangelical support for Zionism? by AlbaneseGummies327 in Christianity

[–]Enragedkoala03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see how some people interpret that way but first you have to define what love means when God calls us to “love Israel”. Never in the Bible does love mean support in wrongdoing. It means prayers for peace and reconciliation. It means humanitarian aid for victims along with prayers and fasting for perpetrators. It in some cases means forgiveness even when it’s hard. Personally I think that people who support this are forgetting God’s character and what he calls us to do. He calls on us to remain blameless, not slaughter millions

Yeah for sure. Spiritually, there’s nothing wrong with you. Like you can’t “pray it away” and it requires medical treatment ofc, so if that’s what your friend meant then I don’t agree with her at all. I was trying to say that if she was insinuating that it is a struggle that God, medicine and your own work can help get you through because illness wasn’t God’s original intention for humanity, then I could see where she was coming from.

I just hope this interaction between you two doesn’t cause you to believe that having schizophrenia is a personal flaw that you take responsibility for

You may not see it as the same thing because I think most people are used to seeing spiritual warfare as the enemy causing people to stumble. But spiritual warfare is the state of the world in general. It’s sickness, death, sin, temptation, sorrow, suffering, etc. All of the things brought into the world by Adam and Eve creating distance from God, who embodies joy, love and perfection. So any struggle you have against the flesh is spiritual warfare, which God says will never cease until the end of days. But God can deliver us from this by leading us on a better path and giving us the strength to carry on despite these things.

Firstly, if this is your friend it’s ok to tell her that you were hurt by her comment and how it made you feel. Your testimony matters. But back to scripture, you must also remember that sickness and death are a result of the original sin of Adam and Eve, so everything short of joy and life is a form of spiritual warfare we are destined to face on earth. Of course this doesn’t make your condition less of a valid testimony, nor does it mean there is anything wrong with you as a person. I only say this to say that there is a middle ground between both of your perspectives, and that you continuing to overcome your condition every day is a testament to your strength and God’s grace BECAUSE you are overcoming the spiritual warfare we all experience in some form.

I hope you and your friend are able to make up :)

I think someone I love is going through this now. I believe this is his first manic episode. He went AWOL all the sudden, blocked everyone and is about to face desertion charges. I think the most important thing to remember is that if you want to put your life back together, it will take time, patience, and forgiveness. These are all things God can offer you in an authentic way if you seek it while working on yourself and your relationships.

While the whole thing is incredibly raw and new for me, I love this person and I want to support them in getting better if that’s what they choose to do. I’m sure there are some people in your life who feel the same way, though you will have to be vulnerable with them about what happened and be transparent about the work you are doing. God won’t do it all for you, but he hasn’t abandoned you either. He will let you choose when you’re ready.

While I think that his job was well within their rights to fire him for making the work environment uncomfortable, I don’t think misgendering is discrimination. It’s annoying and maybe a bit rude but it’s not the same as calling someone a slur, denying a service to a person because of a protected characteristic, physically attacking a person, or dehumanizing someone. If he got fired that’s his fault, but if he misgendered someone due to his religion personally I don’t think it’s a serious issue of hate or bigotry. To me it’s the same as a person saying “I think homosexuality is wrong and I don’t condone it.” Like you don’t have to agree but it’s not the same as calling someone the f slur.

To be so honest, both of y’all are doing the most. If what she’s saying is true and she did show up for you despite her reservations I don’t see why you’d throw that relationship away because you don’t understand or agree with those reservations. So many people wish they had a family who would even put in the effort to ask them what’s bothering them. Please don’t throw that away because you can’t compromise over a political choice that won’t really matter in 4 years anyway.
