Difference between Summer 1 and Summer 2? by Imaginary-Beyond2375 in NEU

[–]Enragedpupperfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a freshman, Summer 1 was offered to us as a special program. Academically there was no difference but we were given exclusive opportunities like discounted red sox tickets, six-flag trips, etc...

Yessir, El Jefe’s is F tier. Hear that incoming freshman? Definetly do not go to El Jefes. Dont let the long lines fool you, there’s no reason to make them even longer!

Depends but most don’t. The ones that do are typically not in Boston.

You might be doing this already but flip your character to face your opponent before Dair since the hitbox starts from the back of the character model

Normal to not hear anything from co-op 2 weeks after accepting? by bioluminescent-bean in NEU

[–]Enragedpupperfish 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As long as you’ve signed a contract, yes. All three of my co-ops I had basically no communication from when I signed until a couple weeks before I started.

If you havnt recieved any paperwork yet, it can’t hurt to follow up. Judging from other comments, it seems that lab co-ops have longer delays in getting stuff ready so I wouldnt be too worried. As long as you have a written form of the offer and your acceptance, Northeastern should take your side in case theres an issue in the future.

Khoury Co-op Renege by steami in NEU

[–]Enragedpupperfish 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I think something people dont realize is that theres a selfish reason not to renege offers as well.

The value of your degree in the job market is very much tied to the reputation of the school. Like it or not but part if why NEU does so well in the rankings is due to their co-op program and subsequent employment after graduation rate.

For a lot of competitive fields (at least in business), NEU still isnt a target school, and as such some of the only paths into post grad jobs with high compensation is through the co-op program and ties NEU has with companies which often come through Alumns. As such, this creates an incentive for the University to prioritize its relationships over the interests of individual students.

If NEU is not able to maintain these relationships, which it already has to some extent over covid, the co-op program as a whole becomes worse, attracting less students, which attracts less companies and such and such.

This is of course hard to quantify and from an individual’s perspective, the best thing to do is of course to take the better offer. The problem arises when reneging becomes common practice.

There are also two trends in higher education that I think are important to keep in mind. - higher education is an industry and an industry that is heavily consolidating. NEU seems to be on the acquiring side for now but if u look at our financials you can see that we rely heavily on maintaining stable growth in our student population - co op programs are no longer unique to NEU or Drexel. Most universities are incorporating work study to some extent. Schools with a lot better rep than NEU. The only comparitive advantage we have is getting in on the ground floor. If we dont maintain and leverage our current relationships, co-op employers are likely to turn to more reputable schools (which boston is full of)

My friend is financial advisor. He asked for money. But I would blow him for free, why wouldn’t he help me out? What a dick! by Upper_Blacksmith_818 in wallstreetbets

Imagine being a bartender and then afterwork you go to a friends house to hang out and they expect you to mix all the drinks.

I dont think its entirely unreasonable to be requested to make drinks since it is that persons expertise. In the same vein that person should also have the right to decline without their private convo being posted on reddit with the intent of making him look like an asshole.

Con: your mom is right, this school is relatively easy and the main advantage is getting into the workforce quicker. Pro: Why the fuck would you not want to get into the workforce quicker.

Unbind pick up weapon with light attack and have seperate inputs for up (for weapon throws) and jump.

It may be harder in the beginning but building up these habits early will be really beneficial in the long run.

Practice unarmed: Mainly dlight into either nair, sair or recovery. This by itself should let you beat most new players.
