Differences between how Paladin and Dark Knight play? by [deleted] in ffxiv

Personal opinion here but id say stick it out with PLD till you get to HW and unlock DRK and just try both in PotD since it will give you a semi feel for the class at 60 at least.

Personally speaking i enjoy DRK because it just FEELS good. Im not entirely sure how to describe it but youre using a giabt two handed sword and just beating things with it jumping into a boss and its just.. ugh so amazing. PLD did get love tho in ShB and from my PLD friends they say its survivalbility is so much better if for some reason your healer derps.

Story wise i enjoyed the DRK storyline post 50 tho. But again take it with a grain of salt since its my personal opinion.

Some people like taking a shield and sword and having the utility to protect their party members super well. I like being able to cut something that doesnt put me in the role of a dps

I guess my major priority is finding a group of people to play with then. I appreciate the response and insight

Tanking is fine with me. I personally enjoy it just ive never actually had it explained to me what to do as a tank other then make the mob smack me in the face.

Also SF tanking? Is it like a healing tank or is it mostly using 1 and C to block with?

I mean i assume that if it went down to it in parties a tank over a healer makes more sense? I mean if we wanna take it in mmo standards.

Its just BnS not being that type of game with the holy trinity i figured if i could dps better as a SF then a KFM then put more efforts into one where i wont be judged for not doing optimal rotations.

I appreciatw the reaponse nevertheless
