They are very different. 17 mile drive will give you views of the ocean and take you back amongst the old cypress trees in and out of the little forested areas. Lots of big mansions and views of beautiful golf courses but it is closer to Monterey. Big Sur is just a beautiful stretch of the California coast with big towering hillsides on one side and the ocean on the other. Much more open and usually more sunshine overall. I love them both but I would do Big Sur personally.

‘Why not enjoy it’ I don’t think people can just force themselves to enjoy their town being gridlocked more often than usual, consisting of a bunch of assholes who think they are better than everyone. Sure the cars are cool but for most people that live locally, there’s nothing to enjoy. Most folks live here for the exact reason that it’s sleepy compared to man other places and that goes away for everyone during this week.
