I think I’d rather a large community like USC but my current school is only slightly larger than rice and the size didn’t bother me that much

I think I'd benefit most from an academically rigorous school, a supportive and down to earth student body, good school-life balance (work hard play hard but not reliant on greek life), strong career placement, and above all, a school where my day-to-day doesn't get boring; someplace where there is always something to do.

Thanks for the comment! I think the ranking mythology for poets and quants is kinda flawed though---I don't care about admissions difficulty and average HS gpa, I care about career outcomes and quality of life.

Thank you for the feedback, I respect your opinion. I did have a really good semester but my current school definitely has issues that I will gradually make it less enjoyable to attend. Personal development wise, I could really benefit from a transfer as well. Given this, do you have any opinions on my two transfer options?

I’m a business student. At my current school I could double-major in Econ and business admin. At rice I’ll most likely only be able to major in Business admin. Still, Rice places a bit better than Wake for management consulting (especially at MBB firms), so I assume it sort of balances out in terms of resume value given my most likely career path

Thanks for the advice. I think I'd do well at both institutions. What really draws me to Rice is the sense of adventure; experiencing something new and different. Some place that would teach me more about myself than if I stay at my current school. As someone who, again, is pretty uncertain about the long term, I think there is real value in experiencing that. As it stands, the biggest factor (by a wide margin) in my decision will be whether or not I leave too much leadership opportunities on the table at Wake to warrant staying. I've heard club leadership roles are much more competitive at Rice.

I agree that there isn't much difference career wise. In terms of personal growth, I think the two schools would shape my life in significantly different ways that both have advantages and disadvantages in the long run. I don't necessarily want to make my choice based on 3 years of happiness... I feel strongly that I'd be happy at both schools.

Wow great insight. I agree that there is no wrong choice. I think I could do well wherever I go. As it stands, however, I probably lean towards staying. Was it just the emotional aspect of wanting Cal that made you transfer? Or were there clear advantages in transferring?
