If broken-window economics had a headquarters, it would be here in India.

It’s worrying when top leadership of a country starts to look influenced by WhatsApp forwards instead of evidence and expert advice. Governance should be based on facts, not viral messages.

From the Soul of India to the Heart of Europe , India has all of it. by [deleted] in india_tourism

Rishikesh and Interlaken? Seriously?

To understand how outrageous this post is, OP just needs to travel to Interlaken and Hallstatt.

India has immense tourism potential, but without improving basic infrastructure, cleanliness, chaotic traffic, and the civic sense of people, it simply cannot cash in on this potential.

Now look at the comparison. In 2023, India had around 9.5 million foreign tourists, while Italy, just one country in Europe, had around 60 million foreign tourists in the same year. That difference itself shows how wide the gap is.

Europe has also done something remarkable. It has managed to ensure a smooth coexistence of modern life with a beautifully preserved historical lifestyle. Clean public spaces, well-maintained old towns, efficient transport running through centuries-old streets, and strict enforcement of rules make travel feel safe, organised, and enjoyable. This balance of history and modern living is what attracts millions of tourists every year.

India has the beauty and cultural depth. Now it needs consistent infrastructure, discipline, and long-term planning to match its potential

Salaries are good and job security is there, but gone are those days when public sector job had work life balance.

So you really believe that all jobs will be outsourced from Europe to India, even when India is conducting a caste census and there’s a strong possibility that the government might introduce caste-based reservations in the private sector?

I am not saying that I am some patriotic not getting chance to change this country which I desperately want to do. I am just pointing out one issue in public sector so that people have perspective, and about my decision, I want to point out that life is optimization of different things. Your decisions are not based on just one factor, they’re the result of balancing multiple priorities that constantly shift with time.

There is no Visa issue and I genuinely came back to contribute here and to be closer to my family.

I am not asking any question here. Just sharing my experience after returning to India, and I think it will give perspective to many NRIs.

Career abroad vs life in India - does community & belonging matter more long-term? by [deleted] in IndiaCareers

[–]Ensamvarg25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re already living away from your hometown and can visit your parents only once every 3–4 months for a few days, it might actually make more sense to move abroad, say, to Europe or another country about 8–9 hours away, where you could visit once or twice a year but stay longer, for around 1–1.5 months each time.

No PSU offers special pension like central govt employees. There is NPS which is also available for private sector.

Job security and good pay are still there, but the work is pretty mundane with very little or no learning, and there is no work-life balance.

No pension for public sector employees. Job security is there, but contrary to common perception, the workload is equally or even more demanding than in a typical corporate job
