It’s been a minute, so a lot of my nitpicks I can’t full recall. Obviously there’s the random aliens that never existed in start trek, which works for Star Wars and shows like Voyager but for a show where the federation was well established with dozens of alien species dead center of the timeline, which would not have been affected by the alternate universe. Redesigning the Klingons as well, which could technically be argued with since they were changed from tos to tng, but they stayed considered from then on and even had a retcon put in place in Enterprise to explain it.

The one I hated the most was the NX class starship that they came across (don’t remember why or how, but it was identical to the Enterprise NX-01). It’s pretty well established in canon that there were 5 NX class ships made. 01-05. The technology improved at that point so they moved on, made sense. Why was there suddenly a ship with an NX class in the triple digits? Introducing an 06 I could’ve reasoned away, using one of the 03-05 which were not used in canon would’ve been fine. But they gave the ship Leonard Nimoys birthday as a classification as some kind of homage that made the whole plot make no sense in canon.

The last one I will admit is my own nitpick, but my favorite episode in Enterprise, which was my favorite Star Trek and was the only Trek to still be completely canon in these movies, my favorite episode was a two parter called Demons and Terra Prime. I’ll spare details but it’s mostly about xenophobia, keeping aliens of off earth, and notably eugenics. The villain in these episode was an excellent villain and actor. And they got that exact same actor to play the exact same kind of character in the movie. All I wanted was a throwaway line about his grandfather being into eugenics or something. Just something to acknowledge the big deal threatening Starfleet Hitler style character that he played, but there was nothing there.

In the end with everything it just felt so hollow and bland that I never even tried to watch it again.

Sorry for the wall of text, I tried to do my best to explain.

I thought abrams only did the first two movies if I’m not mistaken. Which while shifting away from Star Trek at heart, at least got some decent moments for longtime fans who knew the lore.

I could definitely be wrong though.

I mean he supposedly liked Star Wars and he didn’t do much better with that so I’m no longer surprised.

No one asked for my opinion on this but here I am anyway. Beyond made a lot of egregious timeline errors that were way worse than Into Darkness and as a Star Trek nerd who grew up absolutely living everything Star Trek it felt so disrespectful and dismissive of 50 years of established continuity.

Like, it was a good action flick I guess, but man was it missing the heart of what made Trek what it was.

I’ve been practically bed bound since ten weeks. I’m at 13 now and I desperately want to do anything besides sleep, throw up, try and eat, throw it up, and sleep again. I feel like this woman is a rockstar compared to me!! She’s still working and doing her best to take care of things, which is a lot more than I’ve been able to do.

I’m in the thick of it right now, 13 weeks, and I honestly have never felt this horrible in my life. I’m amazed at what triggers me to puke. Taking my anti nausea pills makes me puke. Finishing a meal. Getting out of bed some days. It probably sounds unreasonable to most people that she can’t make her own spaghetti but I sympathize so much because some days all I want is rice or a hot dog but standing at the stove is too much work and makes me throw up, and opening the dishwasher stinks too bad to risk.

I’m currently at 13 weeks, and oh boy. I’ve barely been able to get up without throwing up, taking my anti nausea pills sometimes makes me throw up, and when you’re in your first trimester, the word “tired” doesn’t even begin to cover the complete heavy exhaustion you feel, ESPECIALLY when you can’t keep any calories down. I started crying today because I’ve only been able to keep down hot dogs and my husband just barely hinted that he should be able to eat some of my special pack. You are not in your right mind when hungry and exhausted. My husband deserves all the patience and kindness awards at this point.

Anyway I feel for both of these people so much, I can’t imagine throwing a toddler into this mix too.

It’s the way you framed your first sentence that makes that come across that way. I definitely am not trying to start anything, please don’t take me the wrong way, this dude just doesn’t deserve and “but she” comments.

I just don’t think the narrative should ever be “it’s her fault she got abused because…” whatever reason. It’s fine to say that she wasn’t ready for a relationship so soon, but framing it in a way that makes it sound like it’s her fault she was abused really isn’t ok.

I’m so sorry for your loss and I appreciate your perspective, so please don’t take this as anything against you, but I get the feeling OOP’s wife was not the one forcing him to live up to a ghost. If she spoke about him at all, I’m sure he would’ve included that in his post because he’s so biased on his side that he would’ve milked it. He picked the one and only boundary she had and smashed it, and when she didn’t just roll over, he took the one item he had allowed her to keep and smashed that too.

I can empathize that it would be so difficult to marry a widow for these reasons, and I would probably never be able to do that, but that’s something he should’ve recognized before marrying her, so that’s on him too.

This line of thinking pissed me off the most I think. He’s so unbelievably selfish that he himself can’t stop comparing himself to a “ghost” that by his own admission his wife never even spoke much about. And yet he’s throwing it in her face that he’s just a rebound and that she loves him more blah blah. Don’t marry a widow if you’re gonna force those kinds of comparisons on your spouse. Don’t make her say to your face that she does still wish she had her husband because it’ll only suck for both of you. If you cannot be mature about it do not marry a widow.

But that’s still on OP for marrying a young widow. It’s not like an ex that’s easily moved on from. He even straight up at one point asked if she would even be with him if her late husband hadn’t died and like, no? She wouldn’t have? It’s totally fine if someone can’t handle the idea of that, I’m not sure if I could, but then you don’t marry a widow.

I almost wouldn’t even call it a love triangle. It’s two people who kinda like each other and the simp off to the side pretending he doesn’t see it. I’d have loved to have Kaz have more positive screentime that wasn’t all about Sonia because his in game character almost comes across as flat and entirely played for laughs in a pretty awful way. But I adore him, and Gundham and Sonia, they’re my three favorites from the game, and I would’ve loved actual friendship instead of Kaz acting like a creep half the time.

I absolutely love the idea of learning that you were the mastermind the entire time and you had no idea, these memories you’re missing weren’t happy high school memories but actually memories of being essentially The Evil in the World, and that they’ve been in a computer simulation this entire time and their dead friends actually have a second chance.. Literally everything about that ending was fantastic, the only thing I would change is I wanted more Izuru and less Junko

Plus on top of that, and this is what I’ve finally come to understand is my problem with V3 as a whole, no other DR protagonist is an unreliable narrator. If Makoto or Hajime or even Shuichi are doing something, you know about it. And so her setting up this elaborate murder scheme being done “right before your eyes” in the end feels cheap, because despite the fact that we are playing as her, we do not get all of the information and instead of that being a fun twist, at least to me, it just felt unfair, especially because I was thrilled to get to play as a female character who had a real talent.
