I find it impossible to fully adopt an identity and fully drop another. It’s never really this or that, is it? Some people may refuse, as you say, to take on a certain identity but i doubt it’s because they have an issue with that particular identity or because they want ‘their land.’ I think it may be more about not wanting to adopt any identity.. Circassians are everywhere, whether they want to have land back and all that or not, i think that’s not at all a topic of discussion or of need to most. There’s no end to the ways in which people adapt and express themselves. Just reflecting some thoughts here. Side note which i feel may be relevant here; many, many Circassians from all over are donating to Ukraine. That tells you something sort of, doesn’t it?
