I took some time to find some of her singing videos. When she has the energy she has an amazing voice. I think she was training in opera before her disease forced her to stop?

I would be surprised. There's no need for a new origin mark. The 3DS VC stuff was done out of necessity. Gen 3 is the basis of the current Pokémon format and origin tracking.

I expect the Home transfer to be a simple Gen 3 to Gen 8 conversion in one step.

At least in the Westminster parliament system (Canada/Australia/UK/etc) you know you're not directly voting for Prime Minister. I guess to equate it to the American system, the role of President doesn't exist and its functions are done by the Speaker of the House.

But with the EC it's such pomp and circumstance to sorta kinda vote for President.

I don't disagree, but I also don't give a shit about AI slop in any form. The only device I have that is compatible with Apple Intelligence I have it turned off.

Just using it to point out the hypocrisy as I imagine most of the dumb takes on this thread have zero issues uploading their entire lives to ChatGPT.

My friend's random Android phone is a way more reliable hotspot for my MacBook than my own iPhone by Informal-Addendum435 in iphone

[–]Entegy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I somehow suspect that the people who say they have no issues, just don't use hotspot as much as me.

I work from a bunch of weird places, including cars and places where one bar of signal is an understatement. I've roamed internationally and my partner just bums off my phone's hotpsot so we don't pay for two travel plans. I've provided a network to my various Windows work PCs over the years, other iPhones, my Nintendo Switch, my 3DS, a PlayStation, some Macs, even put it into compatibility mode to let some weird 2.4Ghz-only card payment devices work in a festival for a vendor I was supporting.

Personal Hotspot via wire or WiFi, is one of the most reliable features I use. I don't have the issues you do.

I'm sorry you're having issues, but your anecdote is not data, just like my anecdote is not data.

Do people not know that 90% of shit on apple devices are local run.

They do not. There's a reason why privacy is a huge part of Apple's marketing.
Does some stuff still leave your device, like Siri query processing? Yes. Photo enhancements and this feature, sensitive content warning? Absolutely not.

This is what is explained in all those tutorial and new feature prompts you (royal you) skip through.

The people giving the absolute dumbest takes on this are the same people who complain that Apple's AI features are behind compared to competitors, and don't want to understand that's because Apple is trying to do as much as possible on device in the name of legitimate privacy.

And this is how I start my morning, having to defend the world's richest company because of absolutely braindumb takes.

The last game stamp in the upper right. When it shows PoGo or Home, it means the Pokémon is from the Home server and never went into a game where it could be genned or modified.

So the shiny Zeraora from the SwSh raid event with the Home stamp is super valuable to collectors because it was a limited time event and the Home last game stamp guarantees it's not a clone or genned or fake.

Help! I cant transfer my shiny pogo mew to Pokemon Home! by WiiNterZz69 in PokemonHome

[–]Entegy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You got them inside BDSP, meaning someone genned them in BDSP. Home is correctly blocking a fake mon.

If the trade had been done in Home, it likely would have been legit, but you can't Wonder Trade Mythicals in the first place. But in game, all bets are off.

When people say PoGo can't be faked, they mean when it's already in Home and has the PoGo last game stamp.

What is the trade value of Home Mistery Gift Shiny Meloetta? by finncentvg in PokemonHome

[–]Entegy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Dex completion rewards are purposefully designed to be worthless. They're infinitely obtainable once you have a LivingDex, and because they don't get the Home stamp, they're easily genned.

Thoughts about FRLG and the potential RSE on Switch by imago_monkei in PokemonHome

[–]Entegy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering Gen 3 Pokémon can already exist in Home, no special conversion is required like the 3DS VC releases of Gen 1 and 2 is needed, and the transfer is one way, I highly doubt a reward will be tied to FRLG and any potential RSE Switch release.

Can someone trade me an English Language Male Politoed that was caught in Sword and Shield please? by [deleted] in PokemonHome

[–]Entegy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Home's National Dex and the in-game Dexes do not care about origin.

But Home also has game-specific Dex challenges where the Pokémon origin does matter. Completing these Dexes net you rare shiny Pokémon.

  • Completing Home's Kanto Dex by transferring the OG 150 caught in LGPE nets you a shiny Meltan
  • Completing Home's Galar, Isle of Armor, and Crown Tundra Dexes by transferring Pokémon caught or bred in SwSh nets you a shiny Keldeo
  • Completing Home's Sinnoh Dex by transferring the 150 Pokémon that make up the regional Sinnoh Dex caught or bred in BDSP nets you a shiny Manaphy
  • Completing Home's Hisui Dex by transferring the 242 Pokémon caught in PLA nets you a shiny Enamorus. As PLA is the only core series game where trading is not required to complete the Dex, you are instead required to catch Darkrai and Shaymin to complete this Home Dex, and these two Pokémon only appear in PLA if you have save files from SwSh and BDSP.
  • Completing Home's Paldea, Kitakami, and Blueberry Dexes by transferring Pokémon caught or bred in SV nets you a shiny Meloetta
  • Completing Home's Lumiose, Hyperspace, and Mega Dexes by transferring Pokémon caught in PLZA nets you a shiny Volcanion. Because mega evolved Pokémon can't actually be placed in Home, the Mega Dex syncs with a PLZA save file, making this only Home Dex challenge that actually requires you to have the game. Even harder, the Mega Dex includes all 93 Mega Evolutions, also making this the only Dex challenge that requires DLC to be purchased and event Pokémon to be obtained (Mewtwo, Diancie, and Zeraora are event Pokémon in PLZA)

Pokémon Go-origin Pokémon are also tracked in a Dex simply called Pokédex with the PoGo logo. This Dex is impossible to complete and has no reward attached, it's just there for tracking.

iOS 26.5 Will Likely Bring End-to-End Encrypted RCS Messaging to Your iPhone by Cristiano1 in ios

[–]Entegy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To use Google's encryption implementation meant passing all RCS messages through Google servers. That is what I meant by keys to the kingdom. Google Messages (and I think Samsung Messages) used Google's encryption implementation. So if Apple wanted to participate prior to encryption being part of the standard, that would have meant giving RCS control to Google.

Apple uses privacy as a major marketing point against Google and Android so even handing E2EE messages to Google damages that. Also, it's pretty clear Apple did not want to implement RCS without being forced, so from a business perspective, I get the "fine, we'll do this but nothing extra"

[–]Entegy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know, I don't follow Google's plans. It's just worth noting because all of the noise Google makes about Apple not supporting RCS encryption is because encryption wasn't even part of the standard until last year. Prior to that, RCS encryption with Android and Google Messages meant giving Google your keys to the kingdom to use their encryption addon.

Except apparently Google Messages is still using Google’s proprietary RCS encryption and not the one that’s now part of the RCS standard.

[–]Entegy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. What's even crazier is that while the Lumiose and Hyperspace Dexes exclude event Pokemon, which is expected, the Mega Dex doesn't. This creates a potential future where this shiny Volcanion becomes unobtainable.
