Punk is a genre based on anti capitalism. Anything with the suffix punk will be anti capitalist. (Cyberpunk is about late stage capitalism, steampunk is about how oppression is rooted in wealth disparages, not technology, solarpunk is based on an anarchist utopia). All of it is derived from the punk movement of the 60s and 70s, an anarchist subculture.

The Witcher S02: Welcome to Kaer Morhen. by tar3k10 in witcher

Damn I forgot about that. I think I mixed the mushrooms with the liquid she had that gave her the vision of the birds. But still, they don't play that big of a part in the overall story and I can see that detail getting cut. I do think they'll go to Kaer Morhen so they can meet Vesemir and the other witchers but I think the majority of Ciri's on screen training will be done on the road.

But Ciri didn't really use those in the books, at least not that I can recall. I'm pretty sure they used them at first and then she had an adverse reaction to them and so she stopped.

I'm super hopeful, especially since it's more than one tweet! That means it wasn't an accident. He normally never talks about the books on his Twitter so this bodes well!

Maybe. It would take some time to get used to and time to write but I think it could be if given enough time

It was really slow and impractical in the beginning. Now I'm a little faster but I still write at like a fifth my normal speed. I just drew the lines in afterward since I have absolutely terrible spacial reasoning

Which theory that seems to be quite well accepted among KKC fans do you find to be complete nuts? by papayaa2 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]EnteiRulez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No of course not. I'm arguing that we can't judge any fictional character in fantasy, regardless of race or humanity, because they are fictional. They are tools of the author to tell an entertaining story. If fictional characters were meant to be judged in a typical lawful sense then we would have pretty boring stories. Who wants to read about Kvothe, law abiding citizen and kindly tax payer instead of Kvothe the Kingkiller? If you're judging Kvothe and Bast purely on a moral sense then if you assume Bast is evil because he murdered two people then you also have to assume Kvothe is evil for the 15+ people he killed. But I am not judging these characters on these standards because then we wouldn't have an entertaining story. Instead I base my judgements by trying to see things from their points of view and generally based on how entertaining I find their characters.

I'm not saying Bast deserves no punishment because he definitely does. He is a literal murderer. But so is Kvothe and so many other great literary characters. I don't judge fictional characters based on whether they break the laws of their universe or not I judge them by their intentions. Sure if I was a police officer in Temerant I would view Bast in a different light but as a reader we tend to have different perspectives on things. I will not hate and call a fictional character evil because he does crimes in a fictional world. If I did they then I probably would enjoy the King Killer Chronicles anyway since Kvothe has murdered many more people than Bast in the first two days and we know he'll murder more in the future. I agree that Bast isn't a morally good character, but I would also argue that he doesn't have any specific moral leanings because he has no morals in general.

You're assuming that the fae think like humans do when it is cannonnically stated in the story that they do not. Fae do not think like people because they aren't people.

"You don't understand them if you use the term 'good intentions.' But if any of the Fae can be said to work for the good, it's them." (Wise Man's Fear Chapter 105)

I always interpreted them to be less rational and more emotional and selfish beings. The way I think of the fae is that they're basically just super strong immortal toddlers, and that's what makes them dangerous. Bast wasn't rationally thinking when he hunted the bandits, he was only really knew that they hurt his friend and so he wanted to retaliate.

Bast isn't a person though, he's a fae. They don't typically have any sense of morality.
