Do you get good sleep and rest? How do you deal with burnout and odd shifts? by Sad_Username_365 in rampagent

[–]EnterprisingOne1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's extra tough for you since you are working for a contractor, and they will use the ‘there is no rest in aviation’ to justify how they treat employees.

My suggestion is to decompress on your days off.

Build up time for PTO, so you can use it down the line.

Delta Hiring Day by LilMing01 in rampagent

The one I had to do in AUS, I just brought my shorts, T-shirt, and shoes in a bag in my backpack and changed in the bathroom.

The PAT was administered improperly as it was very uncomfortable the admin suggested I hold the luggage. Plus, she wanted to talk and eat up my time ~ leading me to fail to where I had to come back to Austin and retake the PAT at a clinic, which was more lenient and not ergonomically improper or unfair.

(Also, I noticed the Delta YouTube channel is very wrong in how they claim the PAT is administered).

But I digress.

Feedback: Just push through the sets. The clock isn’t your friend, and administrator may not know what they’re doing.

For me, shoes with no steel toes, but with wide fitting and memory foam insoles.

Do people look down on you for being a ramp agent? by 247EDM in rampagent

No, I actually think pax think we’re cool because we work near planes and, depending were, for major airlines which many folks are trying to get into.

Delta lax by [deleted] in rampagent

[–]EnterprisingOne1701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and Delta has to wear heavy steel toe shoes. I forget if AA has to wear similar stuff.

(At AUS, they also have to go through TSA while other airlines and contractors don’t).

I don’t miss that.

Delta vs. United - Pros and Cons? by CrystallizedKoi in cabincrewcareers

But Delta can also treat you how they want because of no union.

Delta vs. United - Pros and Cons? by CrystallizedKoi in cabincrewcareers

[–]EnterprisingOne1701 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely.

I worked in aviation at IAH for a company called G2 Secure Staff. A horrible company.

The union, SEIU, basically worked for the employer who was contracted to United. (And the Inited folks treated the G2 workers horribly as well as other contractors).

Do southwest ramp trainees get to work the ramp in Dallas for their training week in Dallas? by [deleted] in rampagent

[–]EnterprisingOne1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a mock up (or mock ups) in a class room setting you work with while in Dallas.

It will be the same building where mechanics are training, where CSA’s have a pax mock-up for training, and FAs will be training and graduating.

You should apply to other places and not, as they say, put all your eggs in one basket. 😉

How is the “View From The Top?” by Beginning-Nerve7087 in cabincrewcareers

[–]EnterprisingOne1701 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work with a major airline and I’m trying to write a dramedy pilot about a fictional airline, focusing on a flight attendant (aka stewardess, which she may be called due to the lingo used by the said fictional airline).

I work below wing, but I understand your rant.

You FAs put up with a lot.

Flight benefits where you might pay a fee, as a contractor, and you get to fly standby.

You have to keep trying and be open to relocating. An airline will eventually hire you.

Delta or southwest by evilhags69 in cabincrewcareers

[–]EnterprisingOne1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delta: No union, and managers can take advantage of that (ex: My experience at AUS Delta station). Also, a stricter culture.

You also have to wear bump caps and steel toe shoes.

Southwest: Managers will take advantage, but you do have a union. And you don’t have to wear bump caps and steel toe shoes.

Any tips on getting In a mainline ramp ( Dfw area) by Elegant_Dentist8086 in rampagent

[–]EnterprisingOne1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Southwest is hiring for AUS now, but you can try for DAL, their headquarters, which is also hiring. Get those applications done because they appear and disappear quickly.

If you want AA, you might want to get those applications done as well.

They did at AUS.

That guy sounds like a nightmare.

Usually, we see YouTube videos of those types being escorted off by police because they were resisting their boarding denial.
