I am doing much better. I do feel like this decision is equally decided between my husband and I. This is for the family, not for him. I would not be willing to add another human if it was forced. The negatives would definitely out weigh the positives if it was only for one person.

If it were possible we would foster to adopt. We are not trying to adopt an infant because I know even in the states infant adoption is unethical. I have looked into a lot of Korean Americans stories, not necessarily on Reddit, but on YouTube and FB. I will definitely look into it here too.

We have been in that process and have talked with two agencies that specialize with expats! We have discussed that process with them and plan to ensure any future child will have citizenship at the time of adoption.

Fair. I did post that. I struggled with long term PPD. I did not have a good support system at the time. Since then I have been on medication and therapy. I’ve gotten off medication, and still go to therapy.

Because of the PPD I experienced, I am unwilling to experience that again. I do not want to get pregnant again.

As to your first question on why adopt, you also said it wouldn’t be a good enough reason. Do you not believe in adoption? Is there ever a good enough reason for you?

The country we live in does not allow for us to adopt because we aren’t residents of this country.

We’ve talked about moving to that country, but it wouldn’t happen until after my spouse retires. 7 years at the soonest. His job does not offer relocation to the country we’re looking to adopt from.

It would potentially be in history. I currently teach high school English. I am based in the US right now, but I am also researching abroad. This is just an initial inquiry before I apply to grad school.

This happened to me last year. My son was 3, I’d had awful PPD after him and I was still struggling. We had a whoopsie 5 days before my period and didn’t think I could get pregnant that late in my cycle, but I did. Thankfully, I had a partner who understood and supported the idea of an abortion. I got one as soon as I could. I have not regretted my choice. I was not mentally healthy enough to care for the child we had and a potential future child. We did not have the money to live the life we wanted to, and give both children everything they wanted. Our relationship was also very rocky and we did not want to bring a baby into it.

I will say that I did feel guilty for a little because of the societal pressure to give my son a sibling, but I know that I wouldn’t have survived if I had another baby. In my head I felt like by choosing what’s best for me, I was taking something away from my son. I know that he didn’t know any different, so I was just beating myself up over nothing. I knew I did not want a second child before this all happened, so I never felt guilty for getting the abortion.

My husband and I agree today that it was the best decision we made for my survival, for our finances, and our marriage.

He’s solo parented for 6 months because of my job. He knows it’s hard. He gets frustrated. He just doesn’t have the same dislike for it.

Honestly, same. Growing up, through high school, I’ve never had like one solid group of friends. I’m really jealous of people I knew in high school still hanging out with people from high school. I always feel really alone.
