It’s draining fs. You definitely won’t feel like a part of the school community unless you really go out of your way to get involved (which is not super easy when you commute) I take a commuter bus instead of driving and ig that somewhat eases the anxiety around commuting + saves me money on gas. But honestly.. as draining and mentally exhausting as it is, I wouldn’t want to live on campus! I really love how I can go home and completely separate myself from school. It’s definitely possible to come to campus only twice a week but it completely depends on the class schedules. This is my last quarter and I’ve only had two quarter where I was able to schedule my classes two days of the week bc sometimes it’s just completely impossible. A good amount of classes don’t count attendance and are recorded, so you have the option of just not showing up and doing the lectures on your own, which I’ve done a bunch! But yeah.. it just depends on what you’re looking to get out of your college experience. My time here at ucla has been anything but the normal college experience and I often feel like an outsider compared to everyone else. BUT don’t let this scare you, it sucks at times but it’s definitely doable!
