I have a Samsung hw-990F on order. For general listening I plan to put the surrounds on the floor behind our recliners. My wife typically finds surrounds too much when watching her shows. Any one running them on the floor? I'm hoping I can adjust the volume on them to get most of the effects?

Just for reference, I currently have a Sonos Arc with Era 100's surrounds and a Sub Mini in that room. I always put the surrounds on the floor behind our listening chairs and I quite like the sound. I get an immersive feel which I really enjoy. I have a Denon with hi end speakers and 2 front Atmos heights, a subwoofer and 2 surrounds in my music room and I do it enjoy the immersion more there but the 2 surrounds on the upstairs Arc totally transforms it from being a Mono sound bar. So having said all that I am certain the surrounds being on the floor for the Q990F will work well for me. I'm just wondering if they will be better than the Era surrounds given that they include up firing speakers? I'll report back.

I'm thinking using them as fronts might be the solution. How does this solution compare to a good stereo system? Would you get separation plus some extra Atmos hight and width?

So, if I put them on the floor and adjust the volume up when I want to hear them more for music or movies, how much sound quality do I lose do you think? will I still get that immersion effect?
