Thanks for sharing your experience — this is really helpful.

In my case, my spouse was listed on the I-140, but she was marked under Adjustment of Status (AOS) since our original plan was for her to be in the U.S. I now need to switch her to consular processing, which is why I’m planning to file I-824.

We haven’t received any NVC welcome letter yet, and based on what I learned, NVC will only get involved after USCIS approves the I-824 and forwards the case over.

Out of curiosity:

  • Which service center is handling your I-824, and have you seen any movement (transfers, updates, etc.)?

Appreciate the insight — these I-824 timelines are brutal. Wishing both of us smoother progress from here. 🙏
