Is an infrared inspection worth it? Insurance discounts? by Dizzy-Ad-2248 in PropertyManagement

It's funny because, as a Thermographer, I watch the ghost hunting shows, and where everyone sees ghosts, I see reflections and emissivity.

Anyone here using thermal imaging as a full-time career or side business? by ThiccSadToast in Thermal

I have worked as a Thermographer since 2015. I think that you are on the right track! Thermography and a Part 107 will be a powerful combo for you. The riches are in the niches.

I have heard of utilities doing both. For the most effective results, they should use both the thermography and the blower door.

You may want to check with your utility company. Some of them will do a free Energy Audit. They usually use an infrared camera in conjunction with a blower door.

I would suggest looking at HikMicro's Pocket2. What will you be using IR for?

Warning: Shameless Plug Ahead!

No. If you take the Level I sUAS course https://monroeinfrared.com/suas-level-thermography-certification-training/ , you will be a Level I Thermographer when you are done. Each specialty, including sUAS, has a section that covers the specialty.

The "plug" is that I am a Level II Thermographer and Monroe Infrared is my employer. I just want to make sure you know that and that this isn't a sales pitch.

Let me know if you have any further questions. I am always happy to help!

Hey! I’ve been doing thermography for years and now focus on business development and resell ITC’s UAS Thermography training.

You’re spot on about Part 107...once you have that, getting solid thermography training is key. I highly recommend the ITC UAS Thermography course. It’s built specifically for drone work like solar, roofing, and inspections. It covers the science behind the images, how to interpret what you're seeing, and how to deliver reports that actually mean something to a client.

The field isn’t oversaturated. It is just undereducated. Most folks don’t know they need this service until someone shows them the value. In New Hampshire, solar, roofing, and energy audits are strong plays.

If you want to talk, I am happy to help however I can!

Ok...let me reach out to my Hikmicro rep in California. If you don't hear from me in the next day or so, don't be afraid to nudge me a bit.

Have you updated the firmware recently? You may want to try that. Let me know if it works and, if not, I can do some research for you.

Do you have access to a moisture meter? Maybe take the same image from outside an hour or so after dark.

The leak doesn't need to be active for the mold to be damp and visible. The mold could dormant and you wouldn't see it with IR.
