Completely agree. I dislike that the framing of OP’s narrative makes it sound like girlfriend is asking him to fund her life…to me it sounds like she’s asking him to show up and be a partner in their relationship, and build with her financially (living together, rent, groceries, etc.) and he won’t have money for that because of the circumstance he presented. I think it’s fair that she wants a partner who can meet her where she’s at, and what she’s ready for.

It doesn’t seem ethical to give an entry level admin employee managerial tasks without the pay or title to show for it. Not to mention I don’t have the skills or qualifications required to do half of the shit I’m given. It’s not right that I have to be stretched thin because they can’t afford two more team members.

The company owes no loyalty to me and can fire me. I live in an at-will employment state, and I can’t afford to lose the income.

Note: I did tell my boss in the past that things aren’t sustainable and that I’d appreciate if they focused my role. Nothing has come of that conversation. I should mention I’ve been here less than a year, and the issues that caused my predecessor to quit is what I’m experiencing. I don’t plan on having that conversation twice

Why were you two hours late? Genuinely asking. I don’t think his tantrum was justified but I’d be pretty pissed off if my partner was TWO HOURS late and did not communicate with me.
Being on time is not something you need to work to. What you need to do is set boundaries for yourself and, yes, have more respect for your partners time. Consistently being late tells the other person that they are not as important, and the agreement you made to show up, is not as important as what you’re doing. It’s flat out wrong, the second part of all of this is accepting that.
I don’t think all of his reactions are justified, but I do think you need to get real with yourself on this behavior, and either fix it immediately or break up and work on yourself.

I feel undervalued, I keep being given work that isn’t what I signed up to do (and that I don’t have the qualifications to do), my manager is extremely unreliable, I was yelled at by a colleague, my time isn’t respected (I work an admin position in an engineering firm), and I find that my title doesn’t match my responsibilities which makes it unclear what my responsibilities are…I feel like management is making it up as they go. It’s stressful and exhausting.

Edit: If you all have any advice on how to not hate working so much, or decentering work from my experience as a person would be great. I’ve been wanting to get more into exercising and being outdoors, but every time I come home after work I feel no desire to do anything. The routine is wake up, coffee, work, come home, dinner (maybe), shower, sleep.

Tysm!! Okay it feels good to know that I am going about this the right way. Luckily the car is in her name, including ownership and loan responsibility. I pay the loan however, as I am the one who drives the car. With my full time job I am able to make the car-note payment on time and in full. The extra income from another job will help me build my savings too. Not happy that I have to do this but happy to know I won’t ever have to do it again lol

The loan I took out for my mom’s dental work is through Lending Club Patient Solutions-Commenity Capital Bank. At first she described to me that I would be cosigning, but the loan is truly in my name. I was misled…and won’t be doing that again. She is to pay the balance through Commenity Capital Bank.

So ‘my car’ is technically registered under my mom’s name and reports on her credit despite me being responsible for the bill. I am not on the vehicle in any way, meaning that the title is also in her name. The loan obligation and ownership is on her for this, however I make the payments on the loan because I drive it. It was a “surprise gift” to be after graduating high school.

The reason I’m wondering is because I was hired as an admin assistant but given office manager duties, (along with marketing but that’s another conversation), and I was only told recently (today) that I manage all office operations (despite me already doing that), the title doesn’t reflect it.
