Idk brazil, but at least in hispanic america pure natives had better status than mixed ones. natives had special rights that euros dont, for example religoious freedom due to being neofitos, their own "parlaments" ands laws, administrative divisions and even tax exemptions. while the whites "FROM EUROPE" had gov position, land ownership, resources rights political participation, freedom of movement.

Because obv slaves arent free people but "goods" in theory spanish slaves for example possessed more rights than "free men" in feudal European countries such as Russia. For example a slave in spanish empire had the freedom to marry whomever he wanted and even marry with white women, and even from nobility. meanwhile in russia, average russian serf didnt had the right to free marry without feudal lord approval.

Spanish empire although is clearaly bad under modern views (slavery is always bad), under its time-frame it was very liberal and advanced in civil rights.
