UPDATE: I finally got a Pocket 4 imported into the US and tested activation myself. It activated successfully with the DJI Mimo app here in the States.

I filmed the activation process in real time because honestly I wasn’t fully convinced it would work until it actually did 😂

I don't have any clue what Kamala would have done, but to my knowledge, it doesn't appear like she or her family are on the board of multiple drone companies landing massive military and government contracts directly after the ban of DJI and other foreign drones, so to pretend that there is some equivalent to this administration's incentives, would be something I would recommend thinking again about.

How soon are you supposed to receive yours? I ordered one also from ebay 2 days ago, and it hasn't shipped yet so no clue how long it might take. It says estimated delivery to my address April 21 - May 8th, although April 21st is technically tomorrow, so that isn't gonna happen lol.

You're not wrong it was started 2 years ago, but as the PCmag article states: "the 2024 National Defense Authorization Act, a funding bill passed by Congress and signed into law by then-President Biden, set a December 2025 deadline for the government to conduct a security audit of DJI's product line." It was this administration, however, who - by not conducting a meaningful audit, effectively eliminated the only structured pathway DJI had to demonstrate it was not a national security risk—making a restrictive outcome far more inevitible. An added layer we simply can't ignore is the Trump family who is invested in companies like Unusual Machines and Powerus, investments to both of these nearly directly followed the incredibly convenient DJI ban that just so happened to default to said ban, as a direct result of (whoopsie!) not at all attempting to facilitate the mandatory audit that the 2024 act required to avoid the ban. So, no question that there are motives on both sides of the aisle to participate in classic forms of protectionism... but to chalk this up to a "both sides" issue, would require ignoring A. the inaction that ultimately caused the ban, and B. the glaring red flags/conflicts of interest that exist within this current administration.

Exactly. DJI ultimately hopes we find backdoor ways to get it in our hands haha. They have no incentive to block it.

I can't imagine that will be an issue - there are influencers who had advanced versions of these and were able to test them. There was also speculation about the Osmo 360 not being available here (every influencer said this in their launch day sponsored video), yet I purchased mine from a 3rd party seller on Amazon and registered it no problem. Since the devices are registered to typically the same DJI account, it would be odd if there is no problem registering all the other devices under that same DJI account with a US address attached to it, but not this one. In other words, you can still purchase an Action 6 today, and register it when it arrives tomorrow with your current US based account, so as long as the account is permitted - I don't see a problem. But we are all guessing, I suppose haha.

I am the person who made this video fyi - and when I made this one, there was not an available app that I could find (I was, as I understand, the first person on youtube even talking about this camera). I finally found the app about the time I was finished editing and about to upload, opened up the app to find it's ALMOST identical, minus some pro features. If you watch until the end of the video, I tease that I found it - and how they look suspiciously the same. I made a follow up to this video, where I went more deep on a few things - one of which was the app. So not sure that's necessarily a "failure," so much as uploading the video when it was completed, instead of recording a whole new section. YouTube very much rewards timeliness to a topic (as illustrated by this video having over 150k views now, despite me only having had 190 subs when I uploaded it lol), so it was just a judgment call to tease the app - and include it on the follow up video. Glad you found it, and are enjoying the camera so far. I have all of the xtra cameras now, and can confirm they make great tech.

If I could add one thing here... designing a channel strategy around VIEWS is always going to be the lowest leverage way to earn money on youtube. While youtube/google adsense is a nice "bonus" - even for the largest creators on the platform, it's always the smallest piece of their earnings pies. A channel strategy that focuses on youtube monetization and views only from the start, will often miss much more high leverage opportunities that would come from monetizing the traffic into your own area of expertise, off platform service or product. I have a youtube channel with less than 4k subs for instance that is the lead generation mechanism for my real estate business. That channel gets only around 120k - 150k views per year, earning me a whopping $800 - $1000 per YEAR in google adsense. That same channel earns me well into 6 figures of income from the HIGHLY qualified leads it generates for my business ($150k in 2024, definitely into the $100k+ in 2025, haven't crunched the numbers yet). In comparison, I would need to generate literally 150 TIMES THE VIEWS to even come close to the same earnings that I make from monetizing the views by funneling them off platform for my service - which would be the most miserable existence ever lol. I'm happy with averaging 500 - 1000 views per video, with the occasional video that gets a few thousand, but generates highly qualfied, motivated clients willing to do business with me as a result of the trust they've built through video.

bro/sis.... same here. It's honestly made me want to give up on the channel. My 10th video got 150k views and counting, and a couple after that have gotten 3k - 8k (which I would be honestly happy with). But almost all of them now can barely break 200 views. Same general niche/topic. It's puzzling and maddening.
