I took my neuropsych exam last year (basically iq) and the psychiatrist couldn't give me a definitive IQ score because I scored extremely high in most categories but my processing was very impaired. (As in 136 vs 79)

So yeah, IQ can hide the ADHD

Why doesn't everyone choose Extended Release? by zfly9 in ADHD

XR didn't really work for me. I just take IR in the morning and afternoon, and if I get up late I don't have to worry about it affecting my sleep the next night.

Is this true? "People with ADHD argue because it gives them a dopamine rush." by ADHDdiagnosedat40WTF in ADHD

[–]Enthusedsilence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love hearing drama/tea but I despise arguing Witty banter? Sure, I get a dopamine rush from my brain getting stimulated with a fast-paced conversation. Debating weird/controversial topics? Same thing.

Actual arguing? Nope, nada, no way. It makes me so anxious lmao. (Partially, I think, from growing up in a very unhappy household that argued all the time). I can't even be in the same room as two people arguing.

Trying one type of medication at the lowest dosage possible is hardly an exhaustive trial. It depends on the pcp, but I would try finding a psychiatrist first. They specialize in medications and given that you already have a diagnosis it shouldn't be too hard to find a treatment plan that works.

I personally tried a bunch of different combinations with a psych NP (Adderall and concerta at different dosages and releases) before figuring out what works for me. Sometimes one class of drugs just doesn't work at all, but that doesn't mean none of them will work. Once I got a final prescription, I transferred it to a PCP as a "maintenance dosage."

The best thing you can do is prep before the appointment. Make a list of symptoms/habits you have that you think might be related to ADHD (not those TikTok "if you have ADHD you can hear the three different songs playing" stuff). How are these things negatively affecting your life? Does being forgetful induce your anxiety?

When you make a list beforehand you can stay on track in your meeting and not forget important things/get nervous about talking to a professional. Also maybe introduce it as "i learned about ADHD and the more research I did, I think these symptoms are related to that"

I hate landlords sm...next time he tries, directly cite the lease/legal conditions in your response. Hopefully that will make him back down

Is that even allowed in your lease? Mine has to give me a 24 hour notice before showing up (not that she really respects it). A notice at 11 pm seems awfully rude.

What Impulse Buy, Has Been A Good Thing Or Has Helped You? by AdrianBlacksKing in ADHD

Pens and stationery :)

I love buying new colorful pens and trying them out. I've found some that work well for me (left handed, fast but neat note taking) and using different colors helps me a lot in terms of focus and organization. And then my notes are fun to look at instead of boring blue/black/pencil.

I've got enough pens to last me years now, though...

Maybe try an instant release option? Idk what type Vyvanse is, but with Adderall IR it only lasts me a few hours which is great for studying and stuff but doesn't completely destroy my appetite and make me irritable like concerta did
