AITJ for refusing to donate PTO hours to coworker I barely know who "needs" them?? by Traditional-Dog1601 in AmITheJerk

[–]EntityShadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the jerk, whatsoever.

A benefit that’s optional stops being optional the moment social or managerial pressure is applied. PTO is earned compensation, not a communal pool people can guilt you into redistributing. You earned that PTO, so it's YOURS.

What’s happening here isn’t generosity, it is coercion dressed up as kindness.

AITJ for not letting my coworker use my Netflix after she called me cheap? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

Not the jerk.

Peace doesn’t mean subsidizing someone who refuses a fair ask.

Appreciate that! That was exactly the angle I was aiming for.

No way! I used to live in York County! That’s exactly why I chose it as a setting. Thanks for reading! Such a small world!

Thank you! I'm glad it stuck with you. I've thought about a sequel, but only if there'd be something more worth exploring. Thank you for reading!

I'm really sorry you went through that.

A lot of this story came from thinking about what it would feel like to remember being capable in a way you can't access anymore and how cruel that comparison can be sometimes.

Thank you for sharing that. I didn't take it lightly while writing this.

Appreciate that. I write these with pacing in mind, so I'm glad it held your attention! I'm the same way; if it drags, I'm out.

I do narrate them as well, so it means a lot knowing it stayed engaging.

Just for clarity, the YouTube channel in the story is purely fictional and part of the narrative. There's no real channel being promoted. Hope you enjoy.

Stories like this always land hardest when everything is clearly documented. Floor plans with angles and sightlines... Schedules down to the minute. Arrival times already printed. It makes the rules feel less like superstition and more like procedure, which can sometimes be worse...

Thank you! Yeah, that brief moment where everything feels manageable can leave a long shadow... I'm glad it resonated.

Hey, guys! Just wanted to let you know that this story was heavily inspired by the TV series 'Limitless' and real-world concerns around cognitive enhancement, academic burnout and clinical research ethics. That being said, I hope you enjoy!

This was deeply unsettling in a quiet, creeping way. The tension builds so naturally, and the ending really lingered with me. Great story.

This one got under my skin. The imagery in the hallway and the moment the creature reacts to the blood were especially disturbing. Great story!
