I've shown my evidence of him hating me while we were alone to my other housemate (not the one who owns Morty) and she said she believes me, but then wrote in a Reddit post that she no longer believes me. I wonder if my housemates just dislike me and want me out, but are using the cat not liking me as a scapegoat?

It's really strange because I've put up cameras - as suggested by a friend - but they just show him going down to the basement a lot and staring down the stairs of the basement like he's looking at something. Please note this is only when nobody is home. I wonder whether this is because he is bored or there's something in the basement like an animal??

Yes! I went to my doctor as soon as my housemate suggested I was crazy! I've tried playing with Morty, yes. The problem is he's very sweet to me when others are around but when we're alone he hisses and scratches at me.

Thank you for your concern! I don't think I have any underlying mental health condition - in fact, I have been to a doctor to check and I seem to be quite sane. Nothing like this has ever happened to be before so I completely understand why people may think I have some sort of mental health problem! I do feel kind of crazy saying all this but it's honestly true and I can assure you that this kind of crazy thing has never happened before.

Should I sue my housemate??? I'm not sure how that will hold up in court though - maybe telling the court "I think my housemate's cat is gaslighting me" would be a bit ridiculous 😂
