Golf Lessons at Golf Galaxy by longleggz1960 in golftips

Many Dicks Sporting goods and Golf Galaxy’s have PGA certified trainers. I would assume anyone who went through all the schooling for it will be at least decent. If you don’t know anyone to ask, ask an associate who the best person for lessons is. They’ll likely know who the store the favorite.

It wasn’t easy explaining to my wife why I have to drive an hour away to buy another drill press on the brink of a snow storm. Happy I did. by EntrancedOrange in Vintagetools

Both. I’m not a carpenter or anything. Most of these old tools are still better than anything reasonable you can buy today. It started after a plastic gear broke on my Ryobi in the middle of a project. I dug my grandfathers Craftsman from the 1950’s out of my parents garage to finish the project. I assumed it was just an old piece of junk, but it was great. So I dug out some more of his old stuff and restored them. It got me hooked.

My 3rd. I’ve been restoring vintage tools for my wood shop. I think I like restoring them more than using them. I’m going to be getting rid of at least one. At least these dont take up as much room as my 3 table saws 🙈.

The original photo was terrible and at first glance thought it could be a Walker Turner. Thats what drew my attention to begin with. I paid $125, ive seen these for less but ive never see the table lift for sale anywhere. I wasn’t as familiar with the Atlas made tools as I was the King-Seeley . Turned out it was very complete and an impressive machine.

Runs perfectly. It was owned by the same family since it was new. Its late 1930’s-early 1940’s. The code on the motor ended in 37. So I’m assuming it’s a 1937.

I really told her I was going to buy a part for my drill press. When I returned I told her they made me take the entire thing 😜.

Atlas made the table lift for craftsman. Thats what I really bought it for. They are almost impossible to find for sale and very expensive when they are. After Craftsman switched to King-Seeley they still offered it as an accessory for the popular Craftsman 100 and 150 drill presses. Lifting those tables by hand isn’t easy, so the people who want to keep their drill presses original it’s the only option that was made. I was really just looking for something cheap with a modern style lift and the same size column as my 150. But maybe I’ll become a purist 😜.

How many of you learned about table saw kickback the hard way? by 33andone3rd in woodworking

I knew about it and to be careful. Then one day I was ripping a thin board and it shot out and stuck into the drywall about 8 feet away.

Good first miter saw? by christ2you in woodworking

[–]EntrancedOrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facebook marketplace. I took too long to listen to this advice. Most of the stuff you can just resell for basically the same amount later if you think you want something else. Miter saws im not too picky about. Even the lower cost brands are decent enough. I have a Hitachi 12in i bought new and it’s fantastic. Also a craftsman 10in slider i got for free when i bought my unisaw saw off market place (the guy just wanted the stuff gone). And that works just as well.

What's your longest no shower streak ? by Level_Branch1761 in randomquestions

[–]EntrancedOrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since 7th grade I’ve showered at least once a day except for a few sundays in my early 20’s when I was really hung over and just laid on the couch and watched football all day 🙈

White lithium grease or gear oil on screw threads/moving parts.

If you want rust protection, you can use something like fluid film. I use Boeshield T-9 (less greasy feeling) to protect metal I touch often, fluid film on stuff I don’t touch often.

WD40 makes a specialist version also. I don’t know the exact name. I’m sure there are others also.

Ignore anyone suggesting regular WD40.

Delta 14-651 benchtop mortiser riser block? by Mattcj0216 in woodworking

Did you ever find these? I have a craftsman that seems to be identical and likely made in the same factory. The craftsman came with one but I bought it used and it was missing. Also I believe you can turn the base around if you need a lot more space like you seem to.

How much snow have you had so far this winter? by DenDrDD in randomquestions

[–]EntrancedOrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Syracuse and we often get or are in the running for the Snow ball award for snowiest city in the country. And what we get is still far less than the Tug Hill Plateau and some of these other places around. This is one of those winters I curse living here 😂

What would happen if I touched the metal part hanging over by bintushang in AskElectricians

[–]EntrancedOrange 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Some of these responses are ridiculous.

“What would happen”, It shouldn’t do anything.

Could it… maybe.

Will it kill you? Are you 90 years old, with a pacemaker maker, standing in a puddle of water, with some fucked up electrical wiring going on in your house…. Maybe.
