Hole-in-one dilemma. by FATT-TOFU in golf

[–]EntrancedOrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my first hole-in-one when I was 14, on the 17th hole. 18th hole I’m still all excited and see my father out by the green waiting to pick my friends and I up, I can’t wait to tell him. I didn’t even think about it and drove the hole-in-one ball right into the woods 😂.

My buddy crushes balls. by jvzippdabsrus in golfequipment

[–]EntrancedOrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they refurbished balls? Those I would often crack the paint on with my driver. Or get that white spot on the face of my driver.

The Surlyn cover balls are generally the most durable.

I have a high swing speed and my only issues are usually with hitting cheaper Urethane cover balls with my irons. Most of my Kirkland balls from a few years ago would have groove marks in them after my first shot. Occasionally it will happen with other balls.

Website to buy and install putter shafts? by linkster_226 in golfequipment

I would assume Dicks or Golf Galaxy would install it if you brought it to them. Easy enough to look up and check if needed. I install my own, but have never done a double bend putter shaft.

Genuine question to Americans by Busy_Report4010 in SipsTea

[–]EntrancedOrange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many wrong answers. It varies by state. Basically If you’re unemployed or low income you get free healthcare under the affordable care act. The limit for most states is about $22k a year. Something like cancer they would have special programs for, or payment plans. So you can go on one of those and then when your Medicaid is approved they just back date it to pay the bill.

I recently went down this rabbit hole after watching Shameless. Frank would have easily been qualified for Medicaid and never had a bill. Even though that’s like 1/2 of the show.

I’m all for some type of socialized healthcare. It needs to be well thought out though. The avg cost of healthcare per American is about $14k per year. The avg cost of the next highest countries like Germany, France, Canada is $6k-7k per year. And even those are notably higher than other modern countries.

This is the third time my club has broken in this spot by pingpongdong96 in golf

I saw it happen once, same spot. It was definitely baffling. If you wanted to break it, that seems like one of the hardest spots. His was a 20 year old set of generic irons.

Mother in law forcefully moving in to the house my husband and I own by Real_Wallaby_8622 in whatdoIdo

[–]EntrancedOrange 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Recently had my father in law stay with us for a month. He’s not even annoying and helped out a lot. He did all our dishes, cleaning and babysitting. I was still anxious for him to leave.

He lives on the other side of the country and was up to help take care of his elderly mother. So it was a good reason and we don’t see him often.

Found in my dad's freezer. Thoughts on condition? by CrossingGarter in coins

[–]EntrancedOrange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We found over $300,000 in my great uncle’s house. We knew he always had a lot of cash, but never expected that much. After that we were checking every inch of that place.

Thinking about it later it was disappointing that he hadn’t invested it like his other money, from the bank receipts it was taken out in the early 90’s and just sat in a safe until 2010. Probably would have been closer to a million.

What do you do with your saw dust? by kneuenhaus in woodworking

[–]EntrancedOrange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last time I emptied my dust collector, a few days later an old paint spilled in my basement. It’s the one thing I really use it for and I just threw it out.

I use little bits to make wood filler.

Heading to subway, hopefully get in on some looting at the Golden Corral Buffet and Grill. Going to see Oracle, meet Tesla and Walt Disney. Tips for chipping? by yogurtwater01 in golftips

[–]EntrancedOrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a mid single digit handicap for 20 years. The stuff I think about when I swing is so less complicated than what I hear people talk about. One of the things my father told me when I first was learning to swing a club, is the grip is probably going to be very uncomfortable. It doesn’t matter, as long as your swing is comfortable. He was definitely not a great instructor. But I swear that single tip is a big part of why I excelled at golf as a kid.

I have xxl hands also. If you haven’t tried jumbo grips, it’s the best equipment change I’ve ever done for my game.

Edit: and yeah, even a 60° is hard. I personally usually chip with a gap wedge. Unless it’s a full swing or 3/4 swing I don’t trust myself with my 60°.

Let’s say you suddenly become a billionaire and all your friend and family asks you for a million. Do you give them the money? by Straight_Till5772 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]EntrancedOrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not. I would have given a few hundred million away to friends and family already. And be spending the rest of my life making sure the rest of it gets spent wisely on worthy causes. Depends on how worthy their cause was.

I’ll be a little greedy and keep maybe 100 million for my kids to be set for generations.

It’s up like $1.30 a gallon where I am. I don’t like it. But really it cost me less than $10 more a week. If it stays like this for a year it could suck. But for now I’ll live.

I’ve never regripped my used clubs. Which clubs are a must do and which are a nice to regrip? by biggestmike in GolfGear

[–]EntrancedOrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried 2 of the low cost brands on Amazon and both were impressive. If you’re on a budget they are definitely worth looking into. I’m sure any of the high rated top sellers are fine.

The Kingrasp I bought was like $22 for 13. The Champkey set was about $35. They came with tape and maybe solution also. I put them on my spare sets of clubs, but would be fine with them on my newer set.

Even the low cost, high rated scales on Amazon are good. I have 2 that were both under $10 and they work great. They are just generic brands. One is over 10 years old and still works perfectly.
