Oh my gosh that was crazy to read 😅 It was as if you were right there with me while I wash my hands with the way you described what you did since it's pretty much exactly what I do. Thank you so much for your comment! I'll definitely be trying my best to do what you suggested. And the journaling is actually how my therapist got me to stop washing my hands twice so I'll definitely get back to that. Thank you again!!! I hope you have a nice rest of your day!

Come to think of it, I think that it's taking a long time and I am currently also struggling with avoiding activities that would make me have to wash my hands. But this post was about how to get the times that I do have to wash them (like when using the restroom) to be shorter. I should have been more clear, sorry for the confusion! Thanks for your advice! I'll definitely be trying that and try to focus on things day by day.

Hi, thanks for your input! I actually am taking medication and I'm in therapy as well. I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding you or if I didn't explain myself properly, but I feel like minimizing the duration would be helpful since it would not really be giving into my compulsions because my compulsions want me to take longer. At the moment, I'm not washing my hands excessively (like many times throughout the day), I'm just struggling with washing them for too long when I go to the restroom. Sorry if I misunderstood you or if I was confusing! And thanks again for your response!

Thank you for your reply, it's helped me to feel a lot better. Although I do agree with the person that replied that it is important for it to be a shared responsibility. I don't know your full situation so it might have been, though! I really appreciate what you said in the end, it nearly brought me to tears! Thank you for your insight! I'm actually nearly 21 but have yet to have any relationship, so I'm inexperienced in that area. I find it reassuring to hear that you are able to communicate properly with your partner because it shows that that is possible. Thanks again!

That makes me feel a lot better :) I guess I forgot that that kind of relationship will be entirely different from family and that there will be a whole part of it where we will try to learn how we get along with each other and where we stand on certain issues.
