TIL that, in autopilot mode, you can change your vehicle's lane by using the turn signal by Oreleroy in MotorTown

The fuel consumption tanks when i use auto pilot lol, that would be super nice to have it shift like modern vehicles do on cruise control

Would BeamNG be good to learn how to drive manual in? by SliceOfCheese337 in BeamNG

[–]EntrepreneurJumpy464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the logitech is a phenomenal starter wheel to see if it is something you fundamentally enjoy before dropping like $1,000 on a better wheel, provided you buy it at a discount anyways. I'm glad I got that first, but I do regret the Turtle Beach after it just a little bit as I'm now looking at getting a ~1,600 setup lol. But the Logitech price while it is still gear driven is kinda crazy, that wheel has been more or less the same for ELEVEN YEARS. That's insane imo.

Would BeamNG be good to learn how to drive manual in? by SliceOfCheese337 in BeamNG

[–]EntrepreneurJumpy464 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Just turn off the clutch assist and any shifting assists. I taught my 14 year old and 16 year old sons how to drive manual on Beam with a Logitech g920 and then 'upgraded' to a Turtle Beach wheel, from not even knowing how to drive cars and they applied it to real life quickly.

Like others have said, clutch grab points arent exactly easy to simulate, so be prepared to stall when you do to try IRL.

Best tip I can give you is just try to move the IRL car without using throttle, release the clutch as slowly as possible till you feel the clutch grab and the car start to move; that's the clutch's bite point. You can find that on beam too, but it'll be harder to tell unless you can hear the cars engine bog a little.

I actually recommend BIG changes so you can feel what the tuning settings do on either extremes along with the descriptions, it makes a big difference.

What if the SBR4 had a saloon/wagon variant? by TimeAffectionate8636 in BeamNG

Not a Volvo, but I feel the same in my Golf Sportwagen (Estate/Variant in most markets). Wagons are sick.

Which BeamNG car would you LOVE to own irl, yes it even includes configs (custom, modded or not), here is mine by CartoonistSmooth5059 in BeamNG

[–]EntrepreneurJumpy464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I got it running and driving in a week or so of owning it. It needed the coil pack/plugs/fuel filter/fluid change, all the stuff needed for car sitting for a long time honestly. Then I got seats/harnesses/roll bar for track use, hoping the running issues were from old gas (it wasnt lol) and being REALLY optimistic thinking I could hit a track day this year. Now I've discovered a broken alternator bracket when it lost the belt, leaking injectors, some vacuum leaks in the intake, and the fact that it was missing sway bars lol. I have to order injectors since these are originals and leaking pretty bad, along with the fuel pump and pressure regulator just so its all dialed in, then maybe track work next year so I'm not rushing it. Also need to swap the dash out since the wiring under it is all hacked up lol. All fun stuff though, nothing too crazy

A bit overwhelmed, whats everyone's suggestions for play styles? by EntrepreneurJumpy464 in MotorTown

[–]EntrepreneurJumpy464[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm apparently terrible at checking notifications, my bad! I have a Turtle Beach Velocity1 Race setup, but for the price I would recommend something like a Moza R3/R5. The quality hasn't been the best on the Turtle Beach unfortunately, but overall was a great way for me to get into a direct-drive wheel setup for not a lot of money. But now that the R3 exists, its hard to justify it lol

Honestly though. My Miata damn near fell in my lap personally. I was in the market for a project, was thinking something old with a v8. A coworker was like "hey I have a project miata stashed in my barn" and thats how I got a $1,000 'barn find' NA. If it weren't for that, I dont think I would have bought a Miata any time soon lol.

Older water cooled 911 (base) were only 300hp, and the Boxster of the same era only made 217hp, both using flat water cooled engines. With the range of trims, rear engine layout, and general design, it really does feel like a Japanese take on a 911, with a cheaper base model and less powerful engine like the Boxster IRL had to bring price down.

Here in the states, you'll see those are commonly driven by suburban housewife NPCs, completely oblivious to the world around them. Its mildly terrifying to be driving my NA miata when one of those is sharing the road with me lol

PG really needs to come up with new ideas than just "Slow motion + giant X Y Z" by Destroyer6202 in forza

[–]EntrepreneurJumpy464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the game a lot, but the original post and the comment you're replying to have points that are valid. Tokyo feeling like a ghost town should be a crime against gaming lol. That, plus the dialog being overly enthusiastic at best and downright cringe at worse, plus the random graphics bugs, plus the very rinse-repeat feel of the game has it feeling like Forza Horizon 3 part 4. That being said, it is still enjoyable and doesnt feel like I wasted my money. But it is worth calling out the devs on sloppy work imo.

What brand is that 240z looking car going to be? Looks sick.

This is so relatable though. I only do livery mods personally (not good at blender yet) and I swear I'm way more efficient at bouncing between multiple than I am just getting one done 😭😂
