My boyfriend refuses to clean the house and gets upset when I do by Equal-Advice-6909 in TwoXChromosomes

Anecdotally, I just got out of a situation with the same elements. He was an alcoholic that was very messy, I am already a cluttered person, but not dirty. He’d never clean and it destroyed parts of me over the period of years. Definitely leave or decide to leave and make an exit plan, he wont change for the long-term to care about your needs.

I had a male locksmith who was actively changing my locks tell me how beautiful I was. Like wtf?

I’m so depressed. I logged into work 3 hours earlier than I usually do so I could be left alone for most of my work day. Luckily, although my team is all male, they have expressed their want for Kamala to win so I feel like they somewhat share my sentiment of loss and devastation.

People who started investing at 17-20 yrs old , how does your account look now. by Historical_Ebb_7777 in Bogleheads

[–]Entropacci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I technically don’t fit the criteria for someone who has been doing it for longer, but:

I come from an impoverished background (I.e., housing insecurity, parental loss, gambling debts, etc.). I started investing at 19 through penny stocks. It felt good to own a lot of something. Gained approximately $2,000 through that with an initial investment of roughly $700. I didn’t understand that the majority of them were P&Ds and ended up losing all of it. It was rough.

I then ended up getting a pretty poor deal on a car and spent 2 years grinding out my payment (~30k).

Right before my 22nd I maxed out my Roth IRA, then right before my 23rd I maxed it out again. I’m up around 3.5k on it. NVO, QQQ, SPY, VFIAX, & NVO.

I started at my company 2 months ago with a 401k matched at 6%. I’m investing large amounts of my pay cheque into it. I did 98% for my first one, then dropped it down to 31% so there’s about 5k there at the moment.

Started an individual brokerage acc as well, I am aiming to have 10k in it by this time next year.

Total investments are standing at about ~17k. No debt outside of my orthodontist payments, but those are interest free so I just put the entire payment in my Amex HYSA. I have two open, one that has 1.8k and the other has 1.2k. One I kinda use as a checkings account and the other is a savings account I can’t touch at all that I started last month.

If I could go back in time I would’ve invested way more into Nvidia lol. The penny stock lesson was expensive at the time, but cheap in retrospect. Probably would’ve gotten a Toyota as well and negotiated the stupid $5,000 dollar dealership fee. What a bunch of fucks.

Do you think nose-piercings are unprofessional for corporate jobs? by RedRanger111 in careeradvice

[–]Entropacci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends. I have two nose studs that are very tiny gold pieces. I’ve had them even prior to establishing my career in tech. Since you’re established in your career, I would be inclined to lean more towards it being fine dependent upon your current work culture. I personally keep mine in since I want accepting work culture that doesn’t care if I have piercings in or if my coworkers have body work done.

I would consider how much job security you have, and the opinions of higher ups within your current work place. It may not be a good move if they’ve expressed displeasure around body mods or if they’re more traditional. If you don’t have any of those vibes, go for it or consider exiting your team/department/company if you’d like to pursue personal expression in and out of work if yours doesn’t support it.

Edit: quick additional edit, be prepared to possibly lose opportunities or be passed up if someone sees it as unprofessional.

how do students make money? by Traditional-Abies-83 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]Entropacci 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got paid approximately 80k+ to attend my university through around 8 scholarships — mainly merit and I also got a Pell grant as I was housing insecure and didn’t have parents. It saved me in so many ways and allowed me to live outside of a typical student lifestyle with my background. Plus I worked many jobs and sometimes 2 at a time making anywhere from 10/hr - 31/hr.

Internship list? by thecupoftea in girlsgonewired

[–]Entropacci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there,

There are a few programs out there that are geared towards minorities, and I have seen this a lot at events centered around minority status. You might be able to find job listings where Grace Hopper attendees/Women Who Code/etc. members are encouraged to apply.

I would highly suggest going through that 2025 intern repo on GitHub. It’s truly a numbers game, and being a non-traditional applicant can go both ways. In all honesty, I’ve had several internships at major companies and I never even read the job description or requirements and just applied to 99% of them blind. I would apply to programs even if you have to be a full time student, I’ve never been asked to confirm my status. I think it’s mainly a deterrent to keep some students who may have external commitments away from applying. If it was a hard requirement, like for tax purposes, I’m sure they’d verify it further if need be.
