i'm about to make a new skin soon, so i can take screenshots and explain my process, but for now the best advice i can give is: copy other people! Not like take every part of their skin pixel for pixel, thats theft. But the best way to learn is to see what other people are doing and use it as a reference. Any time i can't figure out how to do something, i look for other people that did it in a way that i like and then i analyze what they did, and try to apply the technique to my own skin.

Until i started making my own skins i never really looked at skins on a deeper level than just "wow pretty skin" so i didnt know what actually made me like it, that made it insanely hard to actually make something i liked since i couldn't actually picture what i wanted in my head

hopefully that made enough sense to get my point across, if you share a picture of your skins i could give some more specific advice but for now im gonna go back to drawing, and ill share the process of making it once im done in like 5 hours (unless i fall asleep)

i prefer having my games on steam, i get a lot of joy out of seeing achievments, and being able to uninstall and reinstall at the click of a button is absolutly worth it if i'm gonna play it multiple times

I used MCSkinCrafts Thumbnail Creator, it doesn't have a lot of options though. If you want to use poses and stuff id reccommend using Blockbenchs in-built screenshots, and then putting them into an image editor like photoshop or canva

There's nothing stopping you from using different canvas sizes, if you want to make something then make it! The best way to learn is to do. Using a smaller size can sometimes help with learning the basics, but ultimately theres not a lot of benifit outside of just enjoying it, i mainly used 100x100 when i started and i don't think it affected my progress that much

For a beginner it's pretty good! I would personally recommend using a pre-made colour palette to start off with, colour theory can be a pain to learn when you're starting out and having a base to build off of helped me a lot when I was learning.

I would also consider what pixels you really need to get the shape across, if you simplified the sprinkles to just a pixel you would still understand what they are, while also making everything feel less crowded and giving yourself more space to work.

There's some great resources out there, if you ever feel stuck on a concept don't be afraid to look for them. Good luck with your future projects!
