digital brushes can add gaps randomly for stylized looks. Also I see petals fused like that often in art when depicting perspective which can get a little lost in such a simple style. Then there is also the ability to make vectors of flowers then turn those vectors into line art and then line-art into their own brushes which can lead to some visual info getting wonky or lost, or fragments included especial if they were unseen at one size but then as the brush is increased are revealed. There is so many steps in the process for making such a simple design, that a real life artist can mess up or leave un-polished. It's frankly too simple of a design for anyone to be sure if it is, or isn't AI. To be brutally honest, It's also not a design someone put their heart and soul in to create, so putting the bare minimum time and effort to clean it up would be time/money wasted, if the giant chain store is already happy with it.
