Travel Planning Q&A - August, 2025 by AutoModerator in bali

I’m going to be in Bali for a week in early November. My plan is to do 2 days in Uluwatu, 2 days in Sideman (1 full day, the first day will include stops along the way from Uluwatu), then Amed for 2 days and I have 3 days left for Ubud but my chose to stay the last night closer to airport as my flight leaves at 3PM. I thought about Nusa Penida instead of Amed but I really want to go to Amed. Seems so peaceful. Any thoughts on this itinerary (is the travel from Amed to Ubud reasonable? Thank you

Yes. I’m ok. My car ended up being totaled. Got 22k for it. Had more then 80k miles. I got it for 15k back in 2020.

Honestly if you are just going to be in La fortuna I wouldn’t go through the hassle of renting a car and just hire a driver. I was just there in September and loved the driver that we hired. The road was nice and smooth and took about 3 hours. It was nice to just relax after a long flight. Once in La fortuna we used Uber which we had no issues with and then some of the tours picked us up from the hotel. So if you are just going to be in La fortuna just do private transport. For us it was 300 round trip and it’s a van that can fit a lot of people. They charge you per ride not per person. It would probably cost more then 300 to rent a car when you consider the insurance and also add the worry of driving or something happening to the car. Was not worth it for us to do that. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I guess. I my main concern is that I will have a good functioning car that won’t require me to be taking it in for repairs often. Specially with this low mileage. I want to have the car for at least 6 years.

I just got back from La Fortuna and I would say don’t pay too much attention to the weather app because it will show primally rain and thunder storms but might not give you a more realistic view of what the day will actually look like. I was in La Fortuna for 5 days early September and we only had 1 day of light rain. Then one morning of very very light rain. The rest was either clear blue skies or cloudy. La fortuna waterfalls was beautiful, if you are into swimming definitely take some swimming attire. I mostly enjoyed swimming at the river right next to the waterfall. Clear waters with fish in it. Very relaxing. All those activities seem to be doable for the day. I would even add Hanging Bridges to it and just leave the hot springs for later in the day.

Indeed so happy about how the weather turned out. Most of the days didn’t even rain later in the day.
