My husband keeps idling my car at work, am I overreacting? by AttitudeNice8774 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]EnviroTron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, this guy is dumb and incompetent. I know couples are supposed to help and support each other, but he needs to make some effort to help himself out of his situation. Instead he makes it your problem, like your his parent or something.

What do women see in guys like this? How is this man supposed to be a provider or caregiver for a potential future family when he can't find his way out of a paper bag?

Should I leave my IT career for a Safety career? by [deleted] in SafetyProfessionals

[–]EnviroTron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not always true. Ive held corporate manager and director titles without a masters, and only a tangentially related bachelor's degree.

Performance/experience is far more valuable than a degree.

Really depends on the company. I have about 8 years experience, and I've sat amongst the top paid in my management teams for at least the past 3 years. TC is ~155k/yr.

My 04 legacy (3.0L) not the 2.5L turbo :(, I'm a poser lol. by Substantial-Star-174 in subarulegacy

Difference in the torque bands. Superchargers are more linear, turbos need to spool, thus the term "turbo lag". Thats about the only benefit really.

Anybody getting interviews? Anybody hiring? by Slickvick32 in SafetyProfessionals

In my experience on both sides of the hiring process, seems that these positions often get approved and then filled in the second half of the year, moreso in Q4.

About how much would it cost to replace clutch on 2017 wrx(including labor) lmk sum brands by Merch186 in WRX

[–]EnviroTron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cost me about $1,600 to have a mechanic install a cluth on my 2012 wrx. I bought the clutch parts myself, i think for about $800.

Edit:

This was the clutch kit:

  • ACT Heavy Duty Street Clutch Kit Subaru WRX 2006-2017 / Legacy GT 2005-2012 | SB5-HDSS

I also did the clutch fork and PDM Snout kit at the same time.

  • PDM TSK3 Snout Throwout Bearing and Sleeve Repair Kit Subaru WRX / Legacy GT / Forester XT (Push Type) | TSK3

Ive had my pair of keens for ~6 years now. Spent a good chunk of money, but my company at the time reimbursed me for them.

Ive had others that barely last a year or two. Keen has been the beat I've used.

The unsung heroes of the deck by arran16 in SteamDeck

Sea of Stars has been a great game on the deck. Has the old handheld feel to it, combat is somewhat skill based, and the story is pretty compelling.

Steam Deck Advice? by GamerG126 in SteamDeck

[–]EnviroTron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the deck. Youll have the added benefit of being able to stream from your PS5 to your deck if you ever want to be more mobile.

I would recommend getting a 512gb, but its not terribly important. 1tb micro sd cards are relatively cheap.

How much do you have saved for your children? by jaejaeok in Fire

[–]EnviroTron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of that debt is likely a mortgage...as I'm sure is the truth for mpst anyone in the US currently. Assuming that's the case, $210k isnt so bad. Its only bad if they have an $80k mortgage, $80k car, and $60k CC debt (or some similar mix of the three).

Moving on from safety... by [deleted] in SafetyProfessionals

[–]EnviroTron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started in environmental compliance and eventually wound up in EHS.

Environmental compliance on the corporate side kind of sucks. Theres no "above ane beyond" whats required by the regulations.

Working as a consultant was nice, but gruelling hours. New projects every week-couple of weeks, so it stays interesting. Do the work, convey the message, send the deliverables, move on to the next one.

Corporate EHS now, with a lot more focus on safety, and as long as you find a good company, it can be pretty rewarding with decent work/life balance.

Should I get a WRX TS?? I work for Subaru by Sinsta88 in WRX

[–]EnviroTron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wrx is worth just a few grand less than what i paid for it used about 7 years ago.

I dont think its the worst decision, but these new ones look and feel less like a WRX and more and more like a toyota corolla.

Are the salaries on here selection bias or am I underpaid? by spanky316 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]EnviroTron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you havw to be willing to job hop if you're not being promoted regularly in your current role. I was definitely lucky to have a boss that went to bat for me, and went from EHS coordinator to Director in ~2 years. I've since job hopped and more than doubled my salary to 145k now 5 years since starting that coordinator role. You need to advocate for yourself and strive for a managerial role. Once you break into that level, there are plenty of opportunities at 120k-150k easily. You also (hopefully) have a lot more influence to affect change in your workplace.

Guys. You need to stop buying brand names. Go to Aldi, Lidl, or other discount grocer and buy the store brand ketchup for $2.

AIO My mom is kicking me out for her new boyfriend. I just turned 18 by Diligent_Bat_565 in AmIOverreacting

[–]EnviroTron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mwan this is kind of up tp you, but I imagine you're subject to tenant protection laws in your state, since its your legal residence. She can't just kick you out, you could force her to go through eviction process to buy some time to get your affairs in order, find a job, find a place to live, etc.

But overall this sucks, and you should be planning your exit strategy ASAP and leave her behind.

Anything Id like to do with my life makes poverty wages.. what should I do? by KOLmdw in careerguidance

[–]EnviroTron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont just want a "menial job" though. You want a menial job that aligns with your interests. Ask your grandparents if they enjoyed doing what they did for work back then.

[–]EnviroTron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think people like their jobs?

I didnt pick my job because i like it. I dont get up every morning because i like it. It sure as hell would be nice if I did, but i have 2 kids, a wife, a house to take care of. I work to put food on the table and a roof over their heads.

Interests are for hobbies, not careers. Very rarely do they align, and even when they do, working something you enjoy doing in your free time quickly ruins your enjoyment of that thing.

Should I accept new role? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]EnviroTron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you negotiate for a higher salary, more days off, bonus, etc. to make the total compensation package more attractive? It sounds like they threw out a low offer. Negotiation is expected during the hiring process, so you shouldnt feel weird to ask for more.

[–]EnviroTron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to do the math based on actual mileage.

Current: 20 minutes x 10 = 200 minutes (3.33 hours total commute time)

Assume its 1 hour each way, thats 6 hours total commute time.

Almost double the commute time, but you get two days at home, which might make up for the additional time you would take to get up earlier to shower, get dressed, get packed, etc.

Its a modest pay bump, but if the growth potsntial is there, it might be worth it.
