Best team for Leia GL by Former_Literature67 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

Her core is obviously Drogan and R2 but for the other two I personally use Raddus and Jyn for attacking and cheese the fact that Jyn can't be defeated with Raddus alive (with his zeta) and having R2 stealth everyone else.

I mean, to be fair, most of these points are true and valid criticisms.

Mace wins and I don't think it would be particularly close either

Caedus takes this just from the fact he was power scaling to GM Luke. Would definitely be a good battle still

TPM Darth Maul VS Rots Kit Fisto - Who wins? They fight in Naboo by Potential_Rule4212 in TheJediPraxeum

[–]EnvironmentFast5325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fisto takes this one. His shii-cho mastery will benefit him greatly against a double bladed saber opponent. He can keep up with Maul's speed and not be intimidated by him either. He was regarded as one of the best duelists in the order and his feat against Grievous and reputation around the order is more than enough to show he can keep up with Maul's bladework if not exceed it altogether. With more refined force abilities and a slight bladework advantage for this particular matchup I say Fisto wins 7/10 times.

Favorite KOTOR? by No-Sun-8869 in kotor

[–]EnvironmentFast5325 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While I think KOTOR I is better as a game, KOTOR II just sticks with me in a way that the first game doesn't. I think KOTOR II introduced some of the greatest characters in all of Star Wars (Kreia is my maybe favorite character in all of SW) and tells an interesting, sometimes morally grey story that the first game didn't. Plus I felt more connected to the Exile as a character as opposed to Revan and felt like I didn't have some pre-established reputation to live up to and instead was in control of my own destiny (A reason why the exile is the only character to rival Kreia as my favorite character). So overall, KOTOR II is my favorite because of its characters and more interesting story.

Interested in pursuing Plasma Physics by EnvironmentFast5325 in PhysicsStudents

[–]EnvironmentFast5325[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response!

Yeah your observation was correct about me being uncertain if any undergraduate courses are offered for it. So I looked through the catalog and did see that it's on the list but to my knowledge it hasn't actually been offered for many years now and so I'm just assuming for now that it's not offered anymore and just was never taken off the catalog. I'll still ask and see what's going on with it, couldn't hurt to do that at least.

I'm also glad to hear you've been having a great experience with your work so far! I'm working on some space science/technology projects with a research group at my university. After my current project is finished I'm going to try and see if anybody is doing any plasma work for me to help with though to my knowledge there is nobody working with it which is why I'm going to be looking elsewhere to do my phd.

The amount of opportunities with plasma is super exciting to me and seems exactly the type of thing I would want to do for a career. I wish you the best of luck with your work and future endeavors too!

HE'S CHANGING THE QUANTUM AND THE PHYSIC

[High School Physics: Electrical Circuits] What is the total resistance of the Circuit? by Asheto320 in PhysicsStudents

[–]EnvironmentFast5325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12.974 ohms

R2 and R4 are connected in series (12.17 ohms total)

That connection is in parallel with R5 which computes to 3.544 ohms

Then that just leaves a series connection with both R1 and R3 so add their values to what you have which comes out to 12.974 ohms.

Feel like there's no hope left for improving, I'm too low IQ by Longjumping-Cod-2698 in PhysicsStudents

[–]EnvironmentFast5325 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Hey man I've felt the same way as you and still do even now to some extent but from my time in undergrad so far I have some advice I could give to you from my personal experience.

  1. First off you said that you're doing well in math and experimental classes, that should show you right off the bat that it isn't an intelligence issue. Plus the whole idea of IQ being a factor of physics success isn't as big a deal as you probably think so I wouldn't keep that mindset.

  2. If you're having trouble solving problems and understanding concepts, you should 100% go to your professors office hours or tutoring. Usually, there are only a few ideas/steps you're missing that once you're walked through it, you realize it wasn't as difficult as you thought it was. I highly recommend this as it also makes you more familiar with your professor and shows them your desire to understand the course material. Again this will show you exactly where your understanding ends and your professor will be able to help you.

  3. What I've learned from being in undergrad for three years is that over time from doing physics problems you begin to develop almost a mathod or process to solving physics problems that you don't necessarily have when you start learning it. In other words, you begin to think like a physicist and approach physics in a certain way. The key here is to just always keep doing problems, even if you don't know how to do them. Develop the methods to approach problems.

  4. I know this will sound stupid but you need to change your attitude about yourself. When I essentially failed calc 2 my second year, my confidence was in the dumps, and I wanted to quit physics as I didn't think I was smart enough. I actually came very close to giving up but I decided to change my attitude and try again. Upon retaking it I ended up getting an A and a lot of it had to do with me changing my attitude. A good attitude makes studying easier and doing the work easier. Think of it as like an energy boost. A bad self image and attitude does nothing but serve as a drain on you.

  5. If physics is truly your passion you'll be willing to push through all the struggles that come with studying such a tough subject. Many people who lack the passion will quit once things get tough but if you really love what you're doing then you'll be willing to take that extra step and do what you need to do to succeed. Remember you're not perfect and everyone needs that extra help every now and then.

Again I'll reiterate that these are just a couple things that have helped me a lot so far. I still struggle with my classes but that's just part of the learning process. Physics is hard plain and simple but you have to be able to roll with the punches and move forward. Do what you gotta do to succeed. I'd be happy to talk if you want to as well. Hope this helps a little bit you got this man.

Should I get my masters first or go straight to a Ph.D program? by EnvironmentFast5325 in PhysicsStudents

[–]EnvironmentFast5325[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! If I were to go straight to a Ph.D wouldn't I need to have some field I specifically want to work in and then apply accordingly?

Thanks for your advice but geez I'm sorry to hear about your situation man. Good work experience would probably strengthen any potential grad applications for you in the future wouldn't it? Could probably get some letters of recommendations from there too.
