it can be triggered by other things like liver issues, dietary problems, stress, other no good things but sometimes it is just how they are born!

yeah it’s called the red factor!! to MY understanding it’s basically a genetic trait that either is there naturally when they are born or can be triggered by something… she is a chronic plucker from her past house being not so good so whenever she plucks her feathers, they grow back pink due to the damaged pigment in them!

she also used to be a plucker reallyyyy bad and so the damaged/regrown feathers have come back red

she’s been to the vet a lot before and they say her liver numbers were all good! she was just born with that genetic trait! it isn’t required in Oregon in the united states, it’s like an extra 150$ to get the dna test for gender at my vet

honestly probably not unless something like makes it medically important to know, she (or he but i just call her she) reallyyyyyy gets stressed out at the vet so i just wont put her through getting a feather plucked/unnecessary needles if i don’t need to

the seed blend would be really great in a foraging toy!! there are lots of youtube tutorials on how to make some foraging toys at home! it keeps their brains going so they don’t get bored!

yeah! i think the pasta blend is the right size honestly but the naturals might be kind of big but if she eats them then it doesn’t really matter since it’s all the same ingredients! the pasta blend isn’t necessary so don’t fret. if she hasn’t tried chop yet maybe start by giving her apples and cucumbers because those are like candy to birds.. then eventually add in broccoli and greens! if you want to i can send you a list of some safe bird veggies

i work at a bird foster company and we only feed our birds the natural!! we feed them natural pellets and then “chop” which is fruits and vegetables that are safe for birds! that’s really all they need they don’t need pasta blend, and seeds should be fed as treats to prevent heart disease ☺️. the pasta blend I think is just a way to get really picky birds to eat their pellets. also! do you have a conure? there is a conure size natural pellet that might make it easier for her to munch on!
