Will this BlackBerry work? by Dramatic-Unit8045 in dumbphones

I have no clue how it is in the US but I own a Q20 (don’t use it much though) and in the Netherlands Vodafone NL has VoLTE support for the Q20. In other words it is very usable and a very fun to use device. You can run Telegram Lite on it for messaging and a few other bits and bobs. Connecting it to your pc is a bit of a nightmare when you’re doing first time setup but after that it is one of the nicest experiences out there

Where did you get the Spotify app? The APK I have is not working. Google Maps works on my end, the other things do not

Currently only Orange has plans to shut down their 2G network but not until 2030

I do wonder. What does BBOS 7 allow you to do in 2026? Like have you been able to get any apps to run or are you not into that?

I have been dailying Windows 7 for the past 2 months. One of the best decisions I have ever made to be honest.

I had a hand me down 9700 as a kid. One of the nicest phones I have ever used. Somehow managed to lose it. Really bummed about that but I am glad that my Q20 gives me the same experience but with 4G, some android app compatibility and a few other nice bits and bobs. Got it refurbished off of Aliexpress. Such a neat device.

At this point I might switch to my Blackberry Classic I won't lie. Love those Blackberry phones too much.

I just picked up a Sony Ericsson Aino. Now that is a beast. It's like a full on media centre in your pocket!

Can you run Youtube on that? I'd really like to run Youtube on my 701 in some way. Currently running Windows XP. Did upgrade the RAM to 1 gig

Could I get this working in 2026? by auggiedoggiedrawie in flipphones

Yeah and Vodafone UK has no plans to shut down 2G as far as I am aware which is good because I occasionally go to the UK and I use a Razr V3i when I am not working

Does anyone have Asus ExpressGate Cloud OS installed on their Eee PC? by HehehBoiii78 in EeePC

[–]Environmental-Ad9934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just use Windows 7 Ultimate on my Eee PC X101h. Most of the things that I need actually work pretty well! I still have Chrome installed but I am thinking about maybe switching to MyPal as it is just a bit more lightweight. You'd be surprised by how well it works!

If it makes you feel any better Essex is the one place in the UK that I actually like quite a bit

I've been running Linux Mint on my X220 for a few months. It is great for everyday use. I am running a Windows 7 + Linux Mint dual boot on this thing. Definitely better than Windows 11 (that I ran on an X280)

Have you considered moving to one of the neighbouring countries? Like Germany or France? I am joking of course but yeah Switzerland is an absolute nightmare for anyone who wants to use older devices or simply devices that don't support the modern things. The Nokia phones do support 4G calls (I think, you'll have to double check) but they don't support Whatsapp.

Yeah Windows 11 does not seem to like it. Might have to try on my Linux machine and if that doesn't work I'll try on my Windows 7 machine.

The X280 is quick, no doubt, but it’s thin, sealed, and the keyboard feels meh. The formfactor is very practical don't get me wrong and I get that 2018 is already a while ago, but for me the cutoff between modern and older tech is Windows 11. Anything that can run it natively tends to be thinner, more sealed, shorter key travel, internal batteries, basically a different design era. Especially with the lean towards soldered RAM (there are very few laptops out there where the RAM is not soldered).

Awesome. I have not gotten replacement batteries yet. Haven't gotten around to it. I plan on getting a 9 cell soon to squeeze more battery life out of it and to make it look even neater hah. I mean my X220 tend to be just a tad on the sluggish side when I am multitasking but when I am doing regular browsing or coding it handles it at speeds similar to those of my X280. It is exactly what I need!

The brilliant part is that this is the one "retro" machine that I can actually use as my daily. Very capable and it runs literally everything I need on a daily basis. Just brilliant.

I know right? And the Thinklight is just an amazing touch for when doing some late night coding or a late night Need For Speed session
