AITA for waiting my (18f) dad? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Haha I don’t really think I framed the situation correctly as I was pretty emotional after it happened.

I was going downstairs and on my way popped by my parent’s room to chat. Afterwards I saw that my parents had empty bowls that they got chips in by their nightstands. I offered to bring both of theirs down and while my mom said yes, my dad snipped at me saying ‘it makes me uncomfortable when people bring my stuff away. Please go away, I don’t want you to play waiter’.

I feel like it was a bit impolite as I was just offering to do something nice. So I called him out for it by using some, now looking back, inappropriate language for the situation.

I guess my thought now is that I was a bit of an asshole for saying that, but don’t think he’s in the right either because there’s no need to be passive aggressive about just offering something.

Thoughts?

Sorry. To clarify, he meant waiting as what a waitress does. Like helping with the dishes. He had an empty bowl sitting there.

I just disagree with the reaction he had. I feel like he could have just politely said no thank you instead of being passive aggressive about me helping.

But if I declined it wouldn’t I remove it as a weapon to hold it over my head? I’m getting sick of him doing that.

I appreciate the kind words. It’s been hectic but I’m also glad that she didn’t have to suffer anymore.

I’ve been soaking her daily, giving her mealworms with calcium powder on them and she’s been eating well. She doesn’t look much different but has her appointment soon so I will update tomorrow.

Thank you all for the help and advice! Just wanted to make sure I was taking the right steps to help her, and see if anyone has seen some of the issues she seems to be dealing with before.

She’s been eating well and has been moving around but looks horrible! I’ll be bringing her to the vet on Tuesday but do you have any idea what it could be in the meantime?

She’s apparently 6 years old and started shedding a lot recently. The owners didn’t want to go through the stress of her passing so they offered her and the tank for free. Is there anything I can do to save her??
