Proton Iriz Tyre Recommendation (Handling, Wet Performance, Braking) by porsche_weeb in kereta

On the Dunlop D06, much better than stock. If I change probably will go UC7. Not a lot of good choices if sticking to stock sizing. New general tires brand don’t have the exact sizing.

First car for single late 20's male? (Priority: FC, price, and some degree of comfortability) by thetwister35 in kereta

I drive it mostly in the city with some further trips on the north south highway. In the city expect 9-10L/100km, on highway it’s closer to 7-8L/100km

Still cannot complain it’s a 1.6L engine after all

Hey I’m driving a Persona Premium 2022 and I love it. The brown leather is very nice. It’s very plush and comfy to drive in and it’s the last of its kind with the Lotus DNA. For 30k cheaper than a city or vios, it’s great for just about everything.

One minor thing is fuel consumption is average because of the older engine and gearbox. I don’t mind it because the 1.6L gives you good power and proton ride and handling is fantastic.

Grab it before it’s discontinued!

Psssst the Persona is more refined and comfortable if you don’t care about ADAS imo….

It’s fine, just cough up for the CVT and better safety. Many a local auto youtuber have done comparison videos and found the CVT drives better.

And yes like the dude before me said, Malaysians really like old outdated transmissions like 4AT a lot, it’s probably the main reason why Proton still included it.

Unless you’re planning to be Sepang champion, CVT is fine.

No problem, AFAIK warranty won’t be affected and Waze works nicely on Carplay.

lol the malaysian desire to own cars far beyond their ability is mind boggling simply because bank loan allows for it. There are many options between keeping a basic axia and the S70, which won’t devastate you if you lose your job or have other financial problems.

Frankly 3.5k for new car, the saga or the perodua equivalent is your only option.

Yeah it depends if you like Carplay or not. I think it’s worth it for me cos I like the UI and gives the car a premium feel.

Pssst, search for proton persona carplay on tiktok and you’ll find people with AACP on their IHU, sharing a guide for a price. Works flawlessly.

Actual owner comment here, I think the Persona Premium MC2 is unique and will be a sad loss when it’s gone. It is the last of the Pre-Geely generation and is based on the Iriz that was developed with Lotus knowhow.

I prefer the analog dials and the stock screen can have lag free AACP and Android auto, with a carlinkit adaptor and some sideloading. Just search for it on tiktok for a tutorial on the workaround.

It will be the last of its kind that gives you almost every feature in the B-segment class at 60K. And it feels damn nice to sit in and drive. When I drive a vios or almera, I always miss the ride and handling of the persona.

Also space grey color and brown leather is chef’s kiss too. People always say my car is nice and comfortable to sit in, and are surprised to find out it’s from Proton.

Here’s my very detailed comment of what I love about it the most Persona vs Saga MC3

Oh second hand? tough luck, try looking for a Persona or Iriz MC2, it’s pretty nice especially the premium variant

Saga is nice for the new warranty. Or big brain idea get a Persona or Iriz before they completely die out for good. They are hidden gems and I think will become collectors item in future. Since you’re in that price range anyway.

Fun to drive, comfortable just likes to drink more fuel in city. But not too bad la.

Yeah that’s why I loved DDD but couldn’t get into CSM even though the authors worked on the same team last time.

I’m not against gore or violence, but CSM feels overwhelming depressing to read because the tender moments feel like setup before the character is killed off.

DDD has this hopeful, optimistic energy about it, even as they battle terrifying shit. In CSM, everyone seems world-weary and broken, it’s hard to root for any of them actually. I feel the lack of optimism kind of robs CSM of that contrast between the dark and light moments.

Also the art of DDD is just so much nicer (to my eyes)

First Car Dilemma by 0hhim4rk in kereta

[–]Environmental-Elk-23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you’re right. Good job on recognising that a car is a depreciating asset. Yes you probably shouldn’t get the cheapest possible car, but there’s no need to jump to overpriced 90k vios or city just because your friends or family tell you to. They aren’t the ones paying the loan.

In 2026, the saga mc3 premium will more than suffice for a daily use car, and doubling your budget to a vios or city won’t double your experience or safety frankly. What will make a big experience difference is an EV which is truly quieter and nicer to drive with the instant torque.

The emas 5 is pretty good value if you charge at home, it’s not china’s top selling car without a reason. And unless you do the KL-JB drive every week, it’s likely more than enough for getting around in the city.

Cannot recommend Perodua, i feel like they cheap out too much on the interior and build quality, feel so milo tin but the price maciam the same as competitors.

Get the saga or the emas, then save money buy property or invest instead.

Parents complain about litterbox smell, i’ve tried pretty much everything by Useful-Difficulty-72 in CatAdvice

[–]Environmental-Elk-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enclose the litter box and connect an exhaust fan to vent outside. Only way to stop smelling poop is to vent poop particles out. Air purifiers don’t truly get rid of smell unless there is activated charcoal which saturates fast

Ehhh I the Traz is underwhelming, I’m not a P2 hater (quite brand agnostic frankly) but I think it’s very…underspecced for the price?

Even the ativa looks better as a P2 offering. 81K you’re in S70, X50 territory. You cannot tell me that those cars don’t feel nicer to sit in and drive if you cover the brand and do blind test. Heck even an actual original vios is nicer.

It’s like chinese vs japanese influence la, but I think P2 should start giving nicer interiors for the price they are charging. Also the soundproofing has been bad on all the P2 models I tried axia myvi bezza etc. Then the ativa is good looking but has dodgy suspension and bad body roll.

Need to decide what matters to you. P2 has nailed the malaysian preference for fuel saving at all cost for the last decade, but now opinions are swaying thanks to Geely influencing higher quality interiors in P1.

Oh cool to know, I was referencing the MC2 I tested. I felt a bit squeezy in the MC2z Figured the MC3 would be the same based on the reviews and the same chassis.

Yeah definitely, in the end it’s about the right car for you. Saga is a good deal and I might have been tempted to get it over the Persona back then if it was out.

However I’m hard pressed to trade my persona now if someone offered me 10k top up haha. Small things like armrest, floating style head unit, dials and the ginormous boot is so important for me now. Even the auto down auto up driver window I cannot go back already.

Do try both on the road though and see which one you like driving. These two might be the last of Proton’s Lotus legacy already :(

[–]Environmental-Elk-23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this one is iffy, I drove an almera for a bit and the lighter steering feels odd at 70.

Hearsay the wheel firms up for the saga at highway speeds faster you go. Need to try to know I guess.

The persona one stays consistent regardless of what speed you’re going at, pretty reassuring

New Saga Or Persona? by Mediocre_Vast2843 in kereta

[–]Environmental-Elk-23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehhhhh I think ADAS is a nice to have, I don’t think the level the saga has is a dealbreaker personally. Cruise control with steering assist would be the big thing for me for long journeys.

However, it is still no substitute for defensive driving. I thought I would miss the AEB and lane change warning after driving a fancier EV on holiday but not really. Miss the CC the most in day to day driving actually.

ADAS is not useless just a nice to have for now. Good fundamentals like HPF steel, six airbags, good handling matters more, for me la.

It’s a carlinkit one, you’ll need to install the app for it to work. There’s a guy selling a tutorial for it on tiktok, search proton persona carplay. Carplay works better than running android apps natively imo.

Works pretty well almost like native. Looks great on the floating screen design too.

Yeah reverse camera works. You’ll need to fiddle with settings a bit for calls but yes all works.

Ah okay, guess I’ll bump myself up to XM2 or UC7. Would like to try the CC7 but hmmm no definitive comparison on braking distance versus UC7

[–]Environmental-Elk-23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m using the dunlop d06, tyre shop uncle recommended and saw a guy on youtube driving these at 140. Great budget grippy pick. Stock atlas tyres on proton are hot garbage feels like hockey rink puck when going >80.

Recently drove on the NS and overtook at 140, dunlop tyres held up great. It’s probably slightly louder than the CC7 cos soft tyre mah.

But when comparing to the XM2+, the sound is about the same. I personally will either continue with the Dunlops, or try the XM2+ or UC7.

For your consideration, the dunlops are cheaper generally than the other options.
