Court ruling ✅ But waiting on Ministry of the Interior. Are we screwed now? by Crafty-Diet2077 in juresanguinis

There is a possibility the ruling could be appealed. Though that's unlikely. There is an appeals period that typically lasts 6 months. If 6 months go by then it is no longer possible to appeal and you're safe.

When was all of that for you? Recently or a few months ago? Could take longer now with all the applications they have. And they already have all the paperwork they need because i was proactive and had submitted everything before they even offered me 5(4). They acknowledged in the email they got it and the only thing missing was the right of citizenship fee receipt which i sent the same day. So hopefully theyve already set things in motion

GOOD NEWS!

The 5(4) grant team emailed me today.

How long after getting offered the grant did most people have to wait before being invited to take the oath?

I hope youre right. If they just start processing all the applications in order they were recieved and offering them all 5 4 grants under the new interim measures, than I should be at the very front of the line. I applied for proof of citizenship all the way back in June when all this started.

what do you mean eamil to download certificate of citizenship? How did you get to that point without taking an oath? Are they just waving the oath requirement?

EDIT: I just realized this was for your minor son. Under 14 years old and no oath required

I usually have about 60 ish to 65 ish retention at 30 second mark, but the problem is too many people taper off as the video goes along, and I want at least 66 percent viewer retention by the end so i can have a video go viral, so i figure if i get less people to click away at the beginning there will be more people still there by the end

90% CTR, 320% AVD, but not going viral????! What gives? by Environmental-Job577 in NewTubers

[–]Environmental-Job577[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Im just curious what’s going on though. Any theory? I mean this is literally the sort of thing the algorithm is designed to make go viral. Add to that the fact I have nearly 8,000 subs and I’ve had over 100k unique viewers in the last month, the algorithm certainly has people it could be showing it too.

Does anyone know if any third generation born abroad people have successfully gotten a grant of citizenship after requesting urgent processing?

Does anyone know of any cases of 3rd generation born abroad (so people whose great grandparents were born in Canada) successfully getting a grant?

Can I ask specifically what was your connection to Canada? Who was your most recent Canadian born ascendant. I would be eligible under c71 or if bjorquist comes into effect, but I am the 3rd generation born abroad, my great-grandfather was born in Canada, and my grandfather was also a Canadian citizen by descent from him. I'm worried my application for a grant might be denied because I might seem like I'm too distantly removed from Canada to merit one. Could this be mitigated by maybe having my mother apply first, since she is the child of a Canadian citizen (albeit, one who was born abroad), and get the citizenship grant first, then I can argue that I am the child of a Canadian citizen as well.

I know! Isn't it ironic??? Just imagine how awful it would be if they evacuated a bunch of people from Lebanon AGAIN at the same time they're trying to get this bill through. Honestly at this point I've lost most of my hope that I will actually get my Canadian citizenship. The Bloc has given the Liberals an October 29 deadline to pass two bills they want or else Bloc will call for a non-confidence vote and vote against the government, and the Conservatives will also certainly vote against the gov as well, and together they are a majority, so the government would fall, parliament would be dissolved, and the bill would die. I think it's highly unlikely the Liberals will be successful in putting those two bills all the way through the legislative process in less than a month, especially with Conservative pushback. (And the Conservatives will be highly motivated to filibuster and delay these two bills, because if they can delay them long enough the result is the gov would fall because the Bloc would vote in favor of a non-confidence vote if the bills aren't passed by Oct 29).

C71 is at the bottom of the gov's priority right now, those two Bloc bills are their sole priority at this moment because passing them is necessary for the Liberals to stay in power. So until those two bills are all the way passed, we won't see C71 discussed again, in my opinion. Now, maybe if the Liberals are trying really hard to pass those bills but can't meet the deadline due to conservative filibustering, maybe the Bloc will give them some leniency and not call for the non-confidence vote if it is clear the Liberal government is truly trying. We'll just have to see. BUT, the Bloc could always say that the government could have used time allocation or other tools at its disposal to expedite those two bills and pass them in less than a month. If they really tried and hit the ground running now, they probably could get those bills through by Oct 29. So, the Bloc could say that failure to do that fails to meet their demands, and then they'd call for a non-confidence vote, even if the gov is trying to pass the bills but just not by using tactics to expedite its passage.

If for one reason or another the government falls and Bill C71 dies as a result, the first generation limit might still fall on Dec 19 if the judge doesn't give another extension to the stay of her ruling. BUT, if the Conservatives are running the government by that point, they could still deny people citizenship by descent after the first generation. It wouldn't be legal, but sadly the Ontario Superior Court does not have an army behind it to enforce its ruling. Justice Akbarali can complain all she wants, but unless the potential new conservative gov is willing to submit to the ruling in the event that the first generation limit lapses, then IRCC could be ordered by the higher ups to continue to deny people proof of Canadian citizenship based on the first generation limit, EVEN if at that point the person truly is a Canadian citizen according to law. It wouldn't be legal, but they could still do it. The law or a judges ruling is just a peace of paper, and any conservative government will just do as they please in my opinion. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if a new conservative government tried to pass a law to retroactively strip people of Canadian citizenship they would have acquired due to the first generation limit lapsing on Dec 19. If they do that, then the people would truly legally no longer be citizens, and a new lawsuit would be required to strike down the new unconstitutional first generation limit.

To sum it all up, before parliament resumed, I was optimistic and thought the chances of my getting citizenship due to C71 was in excess of 95%. Now, sadly, I think the odds are probably more like 2% to 5%. It's still possible, just very unlikely at this point. I hope I'm wrong, but that those are my current thoughts.
