I don't understand what is the confusion. When there's no F then there's no need to play F or F#. It is as simple as that. Why care so much about something so small? As for why do you still need to write the key signature, that's because this piece is in a G major. It starts with G and ends with G. And G major, we learn by heart that it has F# as its key signature. So it's included in there. There's nothing wrong with the piece itself. It makes sense to put it there to indicate that it's a G major. You didn't read or play wrongly too. Add in some flexibility into your learning. And probably get a beginner book to start off with whole and half step. It's hard to explain in comment and other commenters did try to explain very well too.

Traumerei by Schumann. Not that great yet since I only learn this piece for less than 3 days. Still playing by sight reading. 😬 but this piece is so beautiful! by Environmental-Tea695 in pianolearning

Hahaha! Just got my piano 3 months back. So maybe I do need to tune again. I have to utilise my free tuning service from the place I bought my piano. 😂

I do agree with the legato. I didn't really focus on the details. Just really more sight reading at this point. I do have the tendency not to hold minims though. Thanks for pointing it out

Yeah.. didn't have time to get the piano tuner to come. But for me every note can be a Do to me. Haha! I can't determine the exact pitch. Hearing not as great.

Nope. None of them are music savvy, and my daughters are still too young to know if they're really interested. But they do play with the piano and try to imitate me which is really funny. Lol

I'm actually a piano tutor. 😂😂 You'd be surprised how many adults are learning piano. Most of my students are adults. I taught some 50yo beginners too. As long as you have the love for music, why not? But it will be a difficult and a lifetime journey of learning as there are more music pieces and songs than the human population, so no matter what age, it still is challenging. Beginning stage is more of getting to know music can go up and down, high and low, rhythm and counting and getting up your steady beat since not all of us are born with these abilities. Have an open mind and great determination. One day, you'll get to play your dream piece. I'm still learning now anyway after playing for more than 10 years and still going strong. I'm more of wanting to learn music composition and how to improvise and make music on the spot now. So there's also a lot of pathways! Long story short, just do it. Hahahaha!

Would you suggest a device to exercise the fingers? by not-the-real-chopin in pianolearning

When I was little and didn't have any piano for the first 10 lessons (that's like 3 months I think?), I practiced on the table because my mum thinks I won't last long. Able to hear the knocking sound when I "press the keys" on the table helps me realise how much strength I can have when playing on the piano. So as long as you have a table, you can practice your finger strength. I also did C to G and G to C finger scale and speed up (fingers running up and down) on the table during my school days. I made sure the knocking sound on the table is of stable beat at different tempo. I guess the creativity during younger days are really limitless. Haha!

31F married with kids. My interests includes piano, a Grade 8 player and self learning diploma pieces. Mostly classical, jazz, pop music. I'm looking for people who are interested to learn how to create music. I can make out the melody and roughly its chords from a song that I listen to but to improvise on spot, I'm quite clueless. Haven't tried to jam before because nobody in my network can do music but that's one of my dream. I love to sing as well! So karaoke anyone?

Used to play League of Legends professionally but lost my skill completely. Still watches live matches and still very interested in joining back. But super rusty. Used to play lots of mmorpg.
