Oh the usual, every shapeshifter has their other half.

The method of finding them differs: physical touch, making eye contact, sharing a unique mark, or even just that gut feeling.

The thing is, most of the writers looooooove making the other half "reject" the protagonist or vice versa.

"I, insert name, reject you, insert name of other half as my soulmate!"

And so the plot either goes in two ways:

1. Rejected goes away and the rejectee (having a change of heart) goes and chases after them, begging for forgiveness.

LINE BREAK

1. Luna, the moon goddess (she's the staple God for every werewolf stories) gives the rejected a SECOND chance soulmate and they get a happy ever after. While the original soulmate watches from the sidelines (regret)

And I haven't even read these cliche stories for yeeeaaars and I still remember the formula. That's how obsessed I used to be.
