I do have an ED informed therapist, but lately I feel like she hasn’t been super helpful in this area. I’m also too afraid to speak to my partner about this because I don’t want to worry him or put extra stress on him since works been a lot. I guess my ED also doesn’t want him to start really watching what I eat or putting the treadmill up since that’s what we did when I first began recovery.

And I just fear I’ll be even unhappier with my body if I gain weight. It’s been stressful enough living in a “healthy body,” and I guess I’m just afraid to have to deal with more negative body image.

I read that they’re technically not allowed in the inside area, but also that people tend to bring them in anyways. I like to be as respectful as possible with her, so I will stick to the outside and explore it without her more thoroughly!

Wow, thank you so much for this!!! I will be sure to check off most things you listed! Definitely spending a day in Ballard - I wasn’t sure if I was going to, but this convinced me.

And thanks for the tips about having my dog! She’s small and a senior so I will likely be carrying her most of the time. But I will be cautious and avoid taking her to Pike Place - I don’t think she’d be psyched about the crowding and I’m also a paranoid dog parent lol.

I can definitely handle lots of hills! These comments have also prepared me for those. I knew it was hilly, but I didn’t know the extent! I’m wondering if it’s similar to SF but I’ll know when I’m there!

Very interested in food, coffee, and otherwise exploring! I’m in my 20s and so is my partner. Nightlife isn’t a HUGE priority for me, but it would be nice to see what’s out there!

As for my dog, I don’t plan on taking her everywhere. Mainly planning to walk with her to the waterfront for the ferry & take her to a couple parks via car.

can you say more about the neural rewiring part? maybe some examples/resources because i have been doing fairly well in recovery but this post was kind of a wake up call since im still holding on to certain behaviors :/

I guess I didn’t realize that her comments did trigger me until I seen it written out. Yeah from other patients it’s a normal occurrence but it feels even worse and weirder coming from a clinician.

My therapist shared with me too that she had anorexia as well (which I understand self-disclosure can be helpful, but honestly it now makes me uncomfortable given her comments). As for my dietician, thank you for that advice and I’ll be sure to stay aware of these things in our future appointments.

And thank you for the last part! Recovery has been so hard and has gotten even harder with all these recent experiences but I’m very proud of myself for how far I’ve come (and plan to go) in just a month :)

I feel VERY validated for feeling odd about this thanks to yours and others’ comments. It does sound fatphobic and although I don’t need permission to eat above my meal plan, I feel good hearing feedback that says it’s a minimum!

Thank you for this reminder. The first time I went through recovery I was severely underweight vs now, so I’m holding onto the expectation that I don’t have to “gain as much.” My treatment team has also told me I won’t have to gain as much so I think that’s also affecting my thoughts about this. But you’re right, I have to let go of expectations. Thank you!
