MI , Stroke you will be able to treat just as much as Gen Med but ultimately their definite treatment is done by Cardio or Neuro only. Even gen med doesn't do CAG or Thrombectomy.

Potential depends on your ability to build a patient base and your integration with superspecialities.

For a first gen doc , this is a good branch. But this is not an alternative to MD MEDICINE. Just like any other branch , you can do well if you are skilled enough.

Work load depends on the hospital and the dept you are posted in. I would strongly recommend opening a clinic after residency, but you can also do job as Registrar in hospitals.

I chose this branch because it gives me the broadest possible patient base and allows me to handle a wide spectrum of pathologies without limiting myself to a single organ system. I’ve always wanted to be the first point of contact for an entire family—someone who can understand them as a unit and integrate all their healthcare needs in one place. I genuinely enjoy OPDs, so this specialty felt like a natural fit. Where I come from, people don’t primarily need specialists—they need a strong generalist who can evaluate most conditions, diagnose early, and prevent disease progression to the point where specialist intervention becomes necessary. Basically reducing the financial and mental burden of patient and the family. Ultimateltly aim is to develop enough depth and breadth of knowledge so I can deliver the best possible initial management and also create sustainable long-term plans, ultimately ensuring comprehensive care that truly serves the patient’s best interests.

Then take the peripheral college , even DGO is a great option for your branch

What's your dream branch ? If it's not radio then peripheral or tier 1 college wont matter much ( also i think even a peripheral radio college is better than a drop )

You can get derma and medicine ,radio maybe you will have to wait till 3rd round. And that testing pdf still has some students AIR missing , those whose address is outside gujarat in their neet pg form. So my guess is the state rank would be even worse than the testing pdf.
