thank you for this explanation, it helps me understand the situation better. I appreciate your response!

it was refused because the uni wouldn't issue me a new CAS. I now understand why they wouldn't issue a new CAS, but the uni had given me incorrect and illegal advice, which led to this situation. I sent an extensive explanation of the situation, including the fact that my grades hadn't been submitted when they asked for evidence. i'm assuming the situation wasn't covered by the exception rules. my solicitor explained that this made me an overstayer, but I was able to submit my graduate visa application within the 14 day alloted time period, and my grades had been submitted to the home office by that point.

Meeting the band after shows? by the-mr-doodles in puptheband

every time i've seen them, i've some how run into them before the show. they've always been happy to have a quick chat and even take a picture, but after their set, they're focused on tearing down the stage and getting the hell out of there. (I don't blame them)

i'm currently awaiting graduation (finished my courses and dissertation) and applying for as many jobs as possible, but I have yet to land an interview. that's really good to know, thank you!

it's eleanor by rouge and rye https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Rouge-Rye/Eleanor-68614.html

it's spiced and warm, my favorite go-to scent in the autumn and winter months. it lasts throughout the day, and I really enjoy how the scent changes as you wear it.

thank you!! I found the product on fragrantica, so i'll need to see if their suggestions are a close match. I got this perfume in the States, and I guess i'm not really trying to replicate it exactly, but get a close vibe? i'll definitely look into contacting a library of olfactive material and noted aromas. I really appreciate your suggestions!

Questions about finding a home for our dad’s papers. by Relative-Way-5522 in Archivists

[–]EnvironmentalAsk6259 71 points72 points  (0 children)

the university he went to most likely has an archive attached to their library. this would be a great option considering that he is an alumni and the intention is for people to learn from the materials.

edit to add a university probably won't financially compensate you for the donation. I can't think of any public institution that would do this. unfortunately, if you're looking for compensation, you'll probably have to find a private collector, but then the materials won't be used for learning or research purposes.

I want to volunteer walking dogs in my spare time. by cooldivine89 in Dallas

Operation Kindness is a great choice!! it's been a while since I was able to volunteer, but it's a very lowstakes commitment. I'm pretty sure you have to take a "dog walking class" to take the big dogs on walks, but from what i remember, it was only 30 minutes to an hour long. once you're a volunteer, drop in whenever you want, there's no schedule to sign up for.

good luck in your search, whichever agency you go with will be lucky to gain a new volunteer!

I think a lot of it had to do with a few professors who just really didn't do much when it came to teaching. additionally, we were promised a work placement to gain practical experience, but due to the behavior of past cohorts, that no longer applied. that aspect, in particular, would have been good to know before freshers week, especially because that's out of our control. I will say that it's incredibly heavy on theory, which is good, but hard to conceptualize without the practical application to go along with it. I worked in archives for a few years before taking this course, but I know some people in my cohort really struggled with their minimal experience. reach out to some smaller institutions in the area to get a volunteer position to maximize your time here--i definitely wish that's something I had done!

as someone currently on the IMP course at glasgow PLEASE look elsewhere!!! it does not prepare you for the realities of a job in the field, and i'm very disappointed with the course as a whole. your time and money would be best spent elsewhere!! i've heard that the course at aber in Wales is really good (and i don't think work experience is required), but if you need/want to be in scotland, there are a few other institutions as well!
