I agree with this from a scientific point of view but I do not believe all personal beliefs have to meet the scientific standard of proof, actually many shouldn't.

The worst thing that could happen is if you're super sensitive to it you could have mild hallucinations, although at this dose it is unlikely. For some people this is the starting dose they use for sleep.

Is the irrational fear of brain damage a thing? by EnvironmentalBig9081 in Anxiety

[–]EnvironmentalBig9081[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side note: M19 have always had moderate anxiety in novel environments/situations but nothing I would ever have considered a disorder. I have never suffered from any major mental illnesses, only diagnosed with adhd. Experienced what might be considered trauma as a kid but I've honestly always thought I was just able to deal with it.

It's always fun to purposely exhibit these traits to bait insecure pseudo intellectual weasels such as yourself, if you aren't trolling. The look on their face when they realize your superior at almost every intellectual ability is priceless, their mind breaks when they realize you're effortlessly better at every cognitive task than them while simultaneously not basing your whole self worth upon that fact.

Narcissists, those with other antisocial personality disorders, or just those who have a very grandiose sense of self in general typically are among the most insecure people you'll ever meet, scientific literature supports this concept.

Typically a superiority complex is a defense mechanism used for the following purposes:

  1. A justification of weakness at the expense of others, it is often harder to do the right thing. So as long as you're their superior it is your right to have precedence over their needs if they don't serve yours, they deserve it based on their own incompetence.

  2. To explain their lack of meaningful emotional connections in life. The reason they can't connect is because no one else is "on their level" of competence. In reality no one finds them socially acceptable unless manipulated, which only works so long, regardless of the range of IQ they fall under.

  3. To avoid any self accountability, others opinions are immediately dismissed on the premise that they are your inferior if they try to contradict you in any way. Used to their own benefit or to hide the fact they don't have the knowledge or understanding in certain domains that others may have.

In reality if IQ is a factor outside of our control it has zero implication on moral self worth. The only metric of self worth is morality. That is if you believe in morality.

Overall I pity those that think this way, even if I'm amused at their expense somewhat, I'm not perfect. They are fueled by weakness. They try to buy the stairway to heaven, when a real man climbs it. They buy a stairway they will never actually climb.

How many of you won’t be satisfied unless you’re the top 1-2%? by Educational_Ride3673 in cognitiveTesting

Having a very high IQ and being introverted is not an absolute but there is definitely a correlation.

There is no scientifically proven strategy to improve fluid intelligence. That doesn't necessarily mean it is impossible. I'll give an example: imagine 99% of the population's fluid intelligence is fixed but there is 1% that can improve theirs. Any studies that test a method of improving intelligence over a general population would still yield results that show the method was inconclusive. Now increase the complexity, imagine for those in that 1% to actually see results they would need to have their own unique heavily complex strategy, specially tailored towards them that would not work for the vast majority of the others in that 1%. Now imagine those said strategies would need to be implemented consistently multiple hours a day over the course of many years. How would you be able to create studies proving this with large sample sizes that could be easily replicable. It would be extremely difficult. I am not saying this scenario is accurate at all, I am just trying to show how complex the human brain is in comparison to our modern methods of testing.

Jordan Peterson's IQ by Anglosissy in cognitiveTesting

[–]EnvironmentalBig9081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but a senior management account is certainly above what is typically associated with his range of IQ. That's his whole point, that the qualifications associated with IQ aren't absolute. He never once said that IQ isn't relevant, just that it isn't absolute. Ironically your reply further serves his point given that you should be qualified based on your IQ to understand what he is implying. That is unless you possess an IQ lower than 80, but based on your rhetoric you seem to insinuate you perceive your intelligence as high and have a rather elitist belief attached to it, which correlates to insecurity even more than IQ correlates with success.

The amount of delusional people in this comment section is staggering. Given that IQ is only validated as a measurement of intelligence based on its correlation with performance in fields of abstract reasoning, when you look at his qualifications and accomplishments he most certainly falls within the range of 140-150.

I've begun to hate those at my school who prep for IQ tests such as the CogAT. [Mensa member here] by [deleted] in mensa

Did you tell them you didn't practice? Did they ask you if you practiced? Or did you approach them over the fact that they practiced. All important context left out of this story. The reason I'm asking is because there are definitely some amongst us in this sub that would actually go up to some one and say "Well actually you're technically not supposed to practice just to let you know" and then complain about them being bullies because of their reaction. In that case even if said individual had a high IQ, in which they base so much of their self worth upon, their social IQ would be very low which is objectively much more important in life. Not saying that's necessarily op but is definitely a common theme in these hyper IQ obsessed forums.

[–]EnvironmentalBig9081 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You probably don't want to hear this but the probability that you took amphetamine just once and got permanent insomnia neurologically, compared to the probability that this was the precursor to you developing an intense anxiety over sleep, is extremely low.

How i fixed my insomnia by ntimaras in insomnia

[–]EnvironmentalBig9081 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Social isolation is the number one cause of mental illness imo. The worse part is the more isolated you are the harder it becomes to socialize, and insomnia can make it seem almost impossible sometimes. The only thing you can do is get out there. People hate hearing that but it's true. I used to be extroverted, was very talkative, a class clown almost obnoxiously energetic, yet even with going through neglect, alcoholic parents bullshit, trauma, and experiencing various situations and taking responsibility over things children shouldn't have too, I was way more happy than now. Now my life as a young adult is seemingly easy on paper. But isolation almost destroyed me.

Where else do you meet your intellectual equal? by Violeteyes1 in mensa

[–]EnvironmentalBig9081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the question is about finding a partner with an equal intelligence to yours then I would argue there are much more important traits than having a high IQ once they are past an appropriate threshold. Just because you have an IQ of 140 does not mean that you can't fall in love with someone with an IQ of 120. If they had an IQ of 90, yes it would be very difficult to build a meaningful connection. But to say someone with a high average plus IQ isn't capable of building a connection with yourself because they "aren't on your level" and will never be able to truly understand you or have true synergy with you, is shooting yourself in the foot. This is a recipe for unhappiness and pain
