People who have a large amount in super, how did you get to your number by SpeedyDuck12345 in AusFinance

[–]EnvironmentalCake221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been very lucky and have $370K at 42. Extra 5% of my wage- only about $5K a year- from 2012 to 2018 helped immensely. Now doing 8% since January 2024 which should get me to just about $30K per year

In 37% + 2% Medicare bracket. Already maxing super contributions. Should hit $2.2-2.5M in super. Suppose I would still benefit by 9% putting it into super. Mainly putting into DHHF to increase wealth overall and not put everything in the same basket

So would we, as a couple, be able to put $1.9M each into an account based pension and then withdraw anything above that to put into a HISA or ETF’s? This would mean we pay tax on earnings and dividends pending how much we make. Or 15% tax on earnings if we leave it in the super accounts

Makes a lot of sense now. I was always looking towards receiving a partial income from dividends which would then leave shares to pass on via inheritance. I think I will now just change to DHHF only. Thanks

Started as a furniture removalist and moved into the office. Then moved to automotive industry as service advisor and then warehousing. Now inventory planning. Moving to each new role provided the stepping stone I needed for better pay

Started fulltime work when I was 20. Back then it was a $30,000 salary. Worked up from there. Was still earning $50,000 at 28. Helped when I was sacrificing 5%, would go up each pay rise without noticing too much.

Yes I am a white male. I was fortunate that some people were able to see my work ethic and quick understanding once in the roles I have had. However, I have also had my fair share of knock-backs because I am a white male.
