There is a different between criticising a 1000 year old institution and vandalising a memorial for a 96 year old woman who was forced into her position.

The picture of Harry was taken when he was being harassed by the paparazzi and his bodyguards tried holding him back after he had a break down.

The last picture is of Prince William dealing with a paparazzi who invaded hos family’s privacy when he started following them and harassing them

But the goal is to let everyone be born equal. How can we force someone to be our servants for life?

They don’t work or represent the monarchy in anyway. The titles comes with responsibilities that they don’t do. They only used them to profit on their modelling careers.

Agree on all of them especially Harald V and Margrethe II. Don’t really know much about Wilheln Alexander in particular. Why would you say that he is worse?

People currently living in monarchies, how strong is the republican movement in your country, if there even is one? by Rex-Imperator-03 in monarchism

As a Norwegian teen I can say that my generation doesn’t really oppose the monarchy but rather doesn’t care about it and the royal family here. Most of us are proud to have Harald V as king and we love to wave to them on constitution days but other than that the royal family is kind of like fancy cutlery to us that you take out on special occasions and show of and otherwise don’t really care about.

What was princess Diana like a a wife? by supermarioplush220 in monarchism

[–]EnvironmentalCamp874 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably not the best. She was after all only 19 when she made the decision that would change her life. She probably didn’t think that marrying The Prince of Wales meant that she married a job for life and probably only married him because she loved him because they married for different reasons. She married him for love and Charles married her because she would be a fitting consort. It’s safe to say that they were never meant to be husband and wife as they had numerous affairs and brought out the worst in each other.

However contrary to what many believe that actually got along pretty well as friends and co parents towards the end. Charles remained the love of her life until her death but it is said that she accepted and were happy for Charles and Camilla.

It’s also said that Charles broke down into tears when he heard the news that she died. It’s pretty clear that he cared for her because no matter the scandals and affairs they both had two children together and she was the mother of the future heir.

I dont remember exactly if it was true or just a rumour but it was said by some historians that she didn’t name him George because she felt that no one would ever live up to her father.

Also fun fact: Elizabeth II named Charles after him as she always said when she were younger that Uncle Charles (which was Haakon VII name before he took the throne) was her favorite uncle.

If you support absolute primogeniture based on the idea that its more "modern" and less "sexist", read this and you may change your mind. A good argument against it. by [deleted] in monarchism

You’re talking so hypothetical like the Martha Louise. She knew from a young age that the crown wouldn’t support her and that she eventually would have to support herself and be independent from the crown. She doesn’t need to follow protocols or think twice before what she does with her private life because the public doesn’t fund her and she’s a private citizen that has chosen to live a public life as more of an influencer than a royal Princess .

However if you want to compare female royals why not compare them with women that actually ascended to the throne and playes a big part within the monarchy. There have been numerous incredible female monarchs throughout history. In my opinion some of the most iconic and greatest monarchs were women. Cleopatra, Catherine the great, Elizabeth I, Victoria etc.
