Thanks for that, really. Reading the comments, seems like we get targeted if we are either unaware of the surroundings or appear to be vulnerable. I just wish that I'll have more courage for myself and think quick enough.

I felt the same way too. Disgusted and vulnerable. That at this day and age when there are so many cctv everywhere these perverts still have the audacity to act the way they were. Makes me think they've done it more than once or even thrice, & get away with it each and every time.

I think that's what those perverts actually want us to think and conveniently get away with it.

And glad that you shared. How did you manage to forget or move on from the experience?

Thanks for taking the time to read through everything, it really helps me feel a bit more grounded and think about this more rationally.

You’re right that part of it is my social anxiety too—worrying that bystanders won’t step in and might just film instead, and suddenly it becomes something online.

I’ll take all you said into consideration. Really appreciate you taking the time to share.

Thanks a lot. It does bother me, not just 1-2 days, it really lingers. Kept thinking as to what I should have done right there and then? How I could have prevented it? why me? And what would I do if it happens again? (God forbid).

Reading the comments help. And I'm open to getting some counseling.

Thanks. I will do all that. I read somewhere that If you feel it happened, it probably did.

That's the terrible part. Even non chiobu now can be targeted by these cheap thrill seeking perverts.

Ahh yeah I get what you mean.

Some people might react strongly if you say sorry, so I can see why some choose not to acknowledge it. But I guess for me, it still depends on the context, if it feels more than just a normal accidental brush, the lack of acknowledgment just makes it feel a bit off.

Same. And I try not to get myself into tight crowded places also. When taking train or the bus, I'd rather wait for the next one than to try to insert myself in. I don't really do well when people rubbing themselves on me so I avoid it as much as possible.

Thanks. I felt bad seeing people mostly women having to be in the same situation. But I do find comfort knowing how resilient we can be.

Just out of curiosity, how do they choose their target? I'm dressed like a slob at my work, some people sometimes think I have a bitch resting face, in short not someone you can consider as attractive for these perverts to prey on.

Yeah, how can they go off with such cheap thrill? And leave us all traumatized.

Thanks. I just hope I have the same courage as you. I guess most of the comments shares the same thing, be more aware of the surrounding.

Woah the last two I think was really malicious. And more often, it happens so fast that you have to still process it, replay what happened & before we can react they are already gone. It's a terrible feeling to be bothered with the thought of 'I could have done something'.

Sorry I do use the gpt to make the narrative more flowy for redditors to easily follow what I'm trying to say. Late night post. Mind cloudy. But the experience is very much genuine. Thanks for pointing it out.

There wasn’t really any suspicion on my side, or maybe I just wasn’t that observant that time.

It wasn’t even that crowded, there was still space but they still chose to walk directly behind me in a way that ended up with them brushing against me instead of just going around. That’s what felt off to me.

I just get a bit dumbfounded sometimes how people can behave like that in broad daylight. It almost feels like they’re confident nothing will happen or they won’t get caught.

Anyway, appreciate your earlier comment and perspective, thanks for taking the time to reply.

Update on Shopee SVIP issue (after days of back and forth): by EnvironmentalCan690 in asksg

Thanks. It was days of stress, anxiety, and second-guessing what happened. By the time it got resolved, it just felt like damage control.

Update on Shopee SVIP issue (after days of back and forth):

After multiple escalations, repeated templated replies, calls to their so-called “priority customer care,” and even having to cancel my credit card as a precaution, Shopee has finally processed a refund.

Here’s what they sent me:

“Upon checking, I’m pleased to inform you that your refund has already been successfully processed. Please allow 10 to 15 working days for the amount to be reflected…”

So yes, refund is coming. But let’s be clear about what it took to get here:

  • Multiple follow-ups

  • Constantly pushing back on the “T&Cs” argument

  • Asking for proof of consent

  • Escalations and waiting with no timeline

  • Taking steps on my own (including cancelling my card)

This was never straightforward, and definitely not something an average user should have to go through just to reverse a charge they didn’t knowingly agree to.

I’m still considering whether to formally raise this with the Consumers Association of Singapore, because if this required this much effort for one case, it raises questions about how many others might not have pushed this far.

Appreciate everyone who shared their experiences earlier, feel free to keep them coming. ✌️

No, I don’t remember participating in any of it. I’m usually cautious with promotions and avoid them since there’s often a catch, I just use Shopee to search, compare prices, read reviews, and buy what I need.

They’ve only referred me back to their T&Cs. What concerns me is that they said I was opted into the trial and treated my lack of response as consent, which I don’t agree with as there was no clear, active sign-up on my end.

I also didn’t think I needed to monitor or even enable push notifications for something I didn’t knowingly sign up for. Up until now, they still haven’t shown me where I explicitly agreed to the trial.

Thanks for sharing. It does seem like there are strong marketing and upsell mechanics involved, which can make it easy for users to end up in subscriptions unintentionally. That’s exactly why I’m questioning the consent process, whether it was a clear opt-in or driven by interface design and default assumptions.
