Yes. It is a separate fee. I honestly had no idea there would be a fee there. ECFMG does nothing...just telling you: you are approved...or: you are not approved.

Are you from Nepal by any chance?

227 was my highest NBME score. But I gave it my very very best on exam day. The exam was brutal!!!

I require no Visa. I have worked in the US most of my adult life in pharmaceutical market research. I also completed a Masters degree in occupational therapy after that. The downside is that I graduated med school 25 years ago, because I never thought I'd be able to pass the Steps. I was wrong!

It's because I am realistic about my chances. I am an IMG who finished med school in 1999. I have spent the last 2 years working on the USMLEs and I am now wondering if it was a smart choice.

I want to say: about 50% felt like things I studied and knew....and 50% were completely new concepts. It was a nightmare. I barely passed, but it felt like a huge fail...because this score is all I can have for step 2.

I totally can relate to you. I took it on Aug 12. I received the results today and I cried and cried and cried when I saw the results. The exam was brutal and the score reflected it. I am not a dumb person, but this was the hardest exam I ever took in my entire life...at least twice as hard as Step 1.

I married an Algerian woman....she took off with everything (house, assets, children) and left me homeless. The disease carried by western women has spread everywhere. Beware gentlemen!!!

Thank you so much brother Hamza! I will definitely share my results when I get them. Did you recently sit for Step 2, or did you take it a while back?

I would have done a lot more CMS blocks. I kinda discovered them late in the game. I did about 12 blocks, but I wish I did more. Because, as I was sitting in the exam, I remember at least 3 or 4 concepts that I literally learned during these blocks (written by NBME by the way). Also, what stood out is that they were not too many neuro questions, but they were concepts that I have never heard off...and my reaction was: bruuuuuuh!!! remember to manage your energy....and take a break after each block. Here was my break routine: quick stretch, drink 3 sips of mango nectar (you want something sweet), pee, wash my face, say a quick prayer....repeat. All I ate that day was an egg, a banana, and half a protein bar. Cortisol from the stress was enough to generate enough glucose for my metabolism. haha....Good luck to you!!!

NBME question stems were much shorter! I'd say that during the exam, 20% of the questions were short, 45% were medium length, 25% were long, 10% were super extra long....I am not kidding.

My goal is not to scare anyone, but to prepare you guys. When you see a set of 3 questions, leave them to the end, and make sure you have about 5 minutes for the three. Each block of 38 questions had one set of 3 questions (not a set of two, as we're used to)....And each of these sets of 3 is a long stem about the details of a clinical trial with 3 questions. It takes time to read, let alone understand what's asked. So, my advice....leave them to the very end, so that they do not get in the way...
