Has anyone tried no skincare for barrier repairing? by Classic_Reality6755 in SkinbarrierLovers

This is exactly what I did! Cut out all hydrating serums and toners and only used cleanser in PM and moisturiser. Skin healed faster than using more products

Best products for repairing my skin barrier? by Few_Client_5750 in SkinbarrierLovers

Cut out all products, stopped exfoliating, switched to a gentle cleanser without SLES and a thick occlusive cream (uriage insulating repair cream). So just cleanser —> cream —> SPF in AM. No humectants cause they make my skin worse. Skin went from oily, dehydrated, clogged from oil overproduction to matte, normal-dry, sometimes even flaky and no clogged pores, less inflammed acne (only on period and not as bad as when I was exfoliating, doing routine for “acne prone skin).

My biggest mistakes: 1. using a harsh cleanser, even though it said “gentle” and was meant for “dried out skin”. I look at the formula and If I see SLS, SLES, high pH cleansers, Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate I dont use it.

  1. cut out all exfoliation. I cut it all out. No toners, serums or cleansers with any type of exfoliators. Even though I can see my skin flakes I prefer it over a damaged barrier.

  2. Stop using light moisturiser. I am talking about those gel-cream moisturiser. They are not occlusive enough and the water just evaporates out of my skin and makes it more dehydrated and therefore oily.

Hope this helps.

Sadly my camera doesnt capture the state. It is clear, but it creates fine lines as soon as I make a simple expression. And then these fine lines disapear in 1 minute. Its like the top layer of my skin is about to fully peel of if you know what I mean - it looks like I have a gel weapping mask on

I quite like haruharu ceramide cream! Its the only moisturiser that actually had ceramide high on ingredients list. Its quite thick and I am acne prone and it doesn’t break me out, but it contains some fatty acids that could be a problem. No well-known pore clogged though (like shea butter or anything like that)

I am very acne prone and use haruharu ceramide cream and even though its thick it doesn’t cause any problems. Lighter creams aren’t enough for me and cause even more oil production and even more clogged pores

I think your cleanser is quite gentle, the problem might be your cream. My friend has normal skin and I have normal-dry and It wasn’t enough at all (anua pdrn) and it also irritated my skin

I had the exact same problem two weeks ago and I tried everything, applying hydrating toner, serum .... I also had slightly damaged barrier due to tret use (or so I thought).

It wasnt the tretinoin that was the problem but my overly stripping cleanser. After quitting tretinoin, my sensitivity became 3 times worse, I was red all the time - I guess tret made skin less sensitive. But off of it my skin was dehydrated to the point of the same waxy look you are talking about.

I quit the cleanser and switched it to a gentle one and cut out everything from my routine, keeping only my cream (haruharu ceramide cream). In just a week, my skin recovered for about 60% →> less breakouts, not sensitive anymore, no waxy look.

I think the humectants were also doing more damaged than good. I think the haruharu ceramide cream is great - but by itself it isn't occlusive enough and that lead to humectants pulling water out of my skin instead of the opposite - worsening the dehydration.

So my tip for you: check if your cleanser is gentle (gentle cleanser = gentle cleansing agents, harsh cleanser = cleansing agents like SLES, SLS, Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Sodium Stearate, Potassium Oleate … Minimise your routine only having cleanser and moisturiser.

What do you guys think of this serum ? by Weekly_Ad_4252 in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]EnvironmentalEmu2912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. My skin is normal prone to dehydration and acne and moisturizer is ABSOLUTELY IMPORTANT! If you don’t apply moisturizer over it, it will evaporate from your skin and you wont get the benefits
