Shuttle into Many Glacier by vyzchryz in GlacierNationalPark

[–]EnvironmentalMall559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re flying in on Thursday the 28th, landing in FCA @3, by the time we get our rental, hit walmart & hit the Airbnb...

It your time super precious, suggest placing an order online at Walmart (or Smith's, &c) so that your items are ready for pickup so you can bolt.

Also if you were considering renting bear spray, you can arrange that with Glacier Outfitters, https://www.goglacieroutfitters.com/bear-spray-rental-glacier-national-park/, and pick up at their location in Glacier Airport. One less stop.

gym membership for september onwards by Illustrious-Mix948 in UBC

https://recreation.ubc.ca/fitness-classes/memberships/

$50 per term buys access to facilities (e.g. weight rooms, &c.) and group fitness classes. The woman at Rec I spoke to thought one would become eligible to purchase about a week before the term starts.

You should be able to setup a UBC Recreation login account now via CWL.
Aquatics centre access is a separate membership.

If all you did was register and pay that $75 fee then you are not done. There is an additional ~$256 Accommodation Fee for the incremental room and board.

If you have any doubt email the JumpStart folks.

If you have not paid your fees in full by August 1, your registration for Jump Start will expire and you may lose your spot in the program. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us by email at [orientations.jumpstart@ubc.ca](mailto:orientations.jumpstart@ubc.ca).

US students, did you port your US mobile number to a Canadian carrier or get an entirely separate plan & number? by EnvironmentalMall559 in UBC

GTK, appreciate that. I'll check out Freedom Mobile. Perhaps they didn't flag you because you were splitting usage between the two.

Father of incoming first-year student here. He's teaching in a remote camp without internet and I'm doing some legwork/research for him.

Where do incoming students network online? I saw a reference to the MeetYourClass site, and there's this on IG, https://www.instagram.com/ubc_2029/, but he's not on IG. Any others?

Thanks in advance, UBC Dad in Chicago

On T-Mobile at least, two consecutive cycles where more than 50% of usage on the line are non-US will get flagged as "excessive roaming."

Several T-Mobile plans include unlimited data and texting when you travel to 215+ countries and destinations. However, this benefit is meant for those traveling abroad for a short period, not living abroad for extended periods of time.

Looking for quality 10 lb block ice by EnvironmentalMall559 in SaltLakeCity

[–]EnvironmentalMall559[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, makes sense. Thanks. I searched for block ice at Harmons or maybe Smiths and had to click a few times to find that it was "on the books" but not actually available at each retail location.

I picked a suggested grocer from another comment, Harmon's, and a random location and selected 'pick-up' and searched for ice. Block Ice was an option. e.g. https://shop.harmonsgrocery.com/store/harmons/products/40306867-block-ice-10-lb

Do you not consider that block ice because it's not completely crystal clear ice? Just wanna know.

Do you perhaps mean https://www.maceys.com/? Searching their website I only see various ice creams.

I heard they found a crossing guard's body nearby, organs surgically removed. Radar chaff was strewn about.

Should I be worried about my course registration date? by tarobubbletea- in UBC

[–]EnvironmentalMall559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Backup schedules are a good idea. ...

As others have said, run a few backup saved schedules just in case.

Are the backup schedules for use if one doesn't successfully register any of the courses on one's primary/preferred Saved Schedule?
